On the morning of May 12, at Can Tho University, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the People's Committee of Can Tho City to organize the 6th National Startup Day for students.

The festival is part of activities to continue implementing Decision No. 1665/2017 of the Prime Minister on approving the project to support students in starting a business until 2025.

Keywords promoting startups of the Prime Minister

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh outlined the "keywords" of tasks and solutions to promote startups and innovation in the coming time, including: 1 promote, 2 strengthen, 3 connect, 4 focus and 5 encourage.

1. Promote the effective implementation of current policies, and promptly review and amend appropriate policy mechanisms to create a favorable environment, conditions, and legal basis to promote youth, students, and pupils to continuously start up and innovate.

2. Strengthening the connection between universities, colleges and research centers, helping students to research, create sample products, and create connections between industry groups through the support of lecturers and coordinators;

Strengthening the mobilization and effective use of all legal resources to promote startups and innovation among students, especially resources from society and businesses.

3. Connect student startup support centers together, motivate and inspire each other to start a business and innovate;

Connect localities with universities in ordering, assigning tasks, and developing startup projects in the spirit of solving practical problems and desires of the people and localities.

Connecting entrepreneurship education from high school to university and higher levels so that the program content is consistent.

4. Focus on promoting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the education sector, among managers, staff, teachers, and students; innovating from thinking, working methods to program content, methods, and bringing about efficiency.

Focus on proposing the formation and development of startup and innovation support centers in universities, vocational training institutions and enterprises.

Focus on proposing to build a trading floor for startup project ideas of students, young people with businesses and economic establishments in general, with a mechanism to ensure that ideas and projects are protected and avoid copyright loss.

Focus on resolving outstanding issues.

5. Encourage units to use products created from start-up projects, especially those of students.

Encourage businesses to coordinate and support educational institutions in implementing career and employment counseling and startup support.

Encourage businesses to build shared experiential spaces and creative startup spaces for educational institutions, linking learning with practice.

Encourage students and lecturers to actively participate in start-up activities, promote commercialization of research products and start-up products.

The final encouragement is for lecturers and youth union members to actively innovate, have new thinking, new ways of thinking, new ways of doing things to create new values, participate in start-up activities, innovation, support the community and help each other.

100% of universities issue regulations to support startups

Reporting on the implementation results of Project 1665, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Minister of Education and Training - said that the ministry has chaired and coordinated with ministries and branches to review, revise and submit to competent authorities to issue mechanisms and policies to promote and facilitate the development of an innovative startup ecosystem in schools.

For middle and high schools: more than 60% of localities have developed plans to support startups, many educational institutions have organized activities in diverse forms such as integrating into subject programs, extracurricular educational activities, forming clubs, organizing scientific activities, etc.

For higher education institutions, 100% of higher education institutions issue regulations to support startups and innovation for lecturers and learners, contributing to the development and formation of a startup and innovation culture in higher education institutions.

Nearly 30% of higher education institutions have established and developed their own innovation and startup centers; 90% have participated in startup and innovation networks, and cooperated with other higher education institutions to develop startup and innovation networks such as university clubs in engineering and technology, medicine, agriculture, economics, etc.
