According to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, every week he sees more and more signs that the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are preparing for military action against Russia.

In a related development, CNN on May 30 quoted two US officials as saying that President Joe Biden had authorized Ukraine to attack Russian territory with US ammunition, but Kiev could only attack targets on the border near Kharkov.

“The president recently directed his team to ensure that Ukraine can use U.S.-supplied weapons for offensive purposes in Kharkiv, so that Ukraine can hit back at Russian forces that are attacking them or preparing to attack them,” a U.S. official said. The easing of restrictions marks a break with longstanding Washington policy amid growing international pressure from close U.S. allies. Ukraine had requested the change in policy just weeks ago as Russian forces made major advances on the battlefield.

Now Russian forces, ammunition depots and logistics centers could be hit by artillery and missiles supplied by the US across the border from Kharkov in western Russia.
