“Vietnamese Children - Reaching Out to the World” - Helping Students Shine in English

On June 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City Children's House, the final round of the contest "Vietnamese Children - Reaching out to the World" 2024 officially took place. This year's champions were named children from Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School (Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City).

The 2024 "Vietnamese Children - Reaching Out to the World" contest is organized by the Central Council of Young Pioneers in collaboration with Dai Truong Phat Education Group. The program has 16 teams of students from the following provinces and cities: Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year, the online qualifying round attracted more than 30,000 students nationwide. After the preliminary rounds, in the final round, 16 selected teams had to go through the booth display and presentation in English about the country of their choice with the following contents: Introducing the history and unique cultural features, the friendly relationship and solidarity between Vietnam and other countries.

The Organizing Committee selected the 7 best teams to present and quickly answer questions in English on stage to calculate points and rank. In the end, the First Prize went to the team of students from Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School (Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City).

Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (left cover) and Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers (right cover) awarded the First Prize to the team from Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School (Hai Phong).

Pham Nguyen Ha Phuong, a contestant from Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School, excitedly said: "My team presented in English about the Dien Bien Phu victory. We want everyone to know about the heroic history of the nation as well as introduce some historical relics and beautiful landscapes in Dien Bien. I feel very happy when my team entered the final round and very happy to win first prize. This is also the first time I have been to Ho Chi Minh City, so I feel very excited.

At the contest, I learned, interacted, and met many friends from the provinces. Through the exhibition booths, I gained more knowledge about several countries in the world. In particular, my English communication skills also improved a lot."

Ta Duong Kim Khuyen, a contestant from Phan Dang Luu Primary School (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) said: "My team represents the Republic of South Africa. Our team introduces the capital of South Africa, some famous dishes there and the largest wildlife park in South Africa. I feel very happy to participate in the contest, learn a lot from the model booth areas, experience the Edufun English application, meet new friends...

Before going on stage to present, I was very nervous, but when I got on stage I was still nervous. My English communication skills have also improved a lot."

The final round of the contest "Vietnamese Children - Reaching out to the World" was held at the Ho Chi Minh City Children's House on the weekend, so it attracted a large number of parents and children in Ho Chi Minh City to participate. In particular, the model exhibition area introducing some countries such as: France, the United States, Japan, Laos, Cambodia, Korea, India, Cuba, China, England, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Thailand... brought a miniature world to the children.

In addition, students participating in the program also experienced the English learning application - Edufun, for free. The activity attracted a large number of students to come and test their English speaking skills, demonstrating their understanding through interesting and engaging games. Edufun applies a modern learning method, combining learning and playing, helping students absorb knowledge in an interesting and effective way. This is an English learning application for students from grades 1 to 12, built by Education Software Vietnam Co., Ltd., a member of Dai Truong Phat Education Group.

Mr. Le Anh Quan, Vice Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest "Vietnamese Children - Reaching out to the world", said: The contest is one of the activities contributing to the implementation of the projects "Teaching and learning foreign languages ​​in the national education system for the period 2017-2025" and "Improving foreign language capacity and international integration for Vietnamese children and youth for the period 2022-2030" of the Prime Minister.
