This year, the 10th grade entrance exam for literature will include a specific work, with a certain limit to avoid students going off topic. Therefore, students need to pay attention to limiting the analysis content in the introduction, and at the same time, solve the problem within the limit given by the question.

Avoid memorizing sample texts that are too wordy and off-topic. Therefore, if students are still guessing the questions before the exam, it means that they have completely reviewed in the wrong direction and method and may not have enough time to start reviewing again.

Another mistake to avoid is writing a paragraph without a clear topic, which will result in a low score. Students do not have the skills to create a topic sentence for the paragraph. If you choose to write a parallel paragraph (a paragraph that does not need a topic sentence), you also need to clearly show the topic words and the way of reasoning towards a certain content.

Students also have the wrong habit of dividing paragraphs arbitrarily without clearly understanding the function of the paragraph. The sentences in the paragraph lack connection with each other and with the previous paragraph, and do not solve any specific problem in the essay.

Therefore, if students feel they are not good at writing, they should learn carefully about writing methods, how to write a simple paragraph with a clear topic and function.

According to Mr. Bao, students need to avoid the mistake of depending on sample essays. They often use the answers of old questions or sample essays they have learned to copy into any essay that has signs related to the essay they have done or learned.

"The test is certainly within the range or easy, not difficult. The problem is that the test will require students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a few specific aspects. The answer is in the test requirements. Students need to practice reading the test, analyzing the test requirements to understand what they need to write and what they should not write in their essay. Avoid writing content that is not related to the test just to make the essay longer," said Mr. Bao.

According to Mr. Bao, the notion that writing well and writing long will get high scores is wrong. The 10th grade entrance exam for literature in Ho Chi Minh City focuses more on skills than anything else; students only need to have the basic knowledge taught in the program to be able to meet the knowledge requirements of the exam.

In the exam, students need to demonstrate their writing skills. The scoring scale for skills is quite high. Instead of just focusing on writing a very long essay, leaving a few minutes for the conclusion, students should focus on practicing skills and methods for doing the test.
