Reuters reported earlier that several walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah members had exploded, including those attending the funerals of victims of pager explosions the day before.

Israeli intelligence planted explosives in thousands of Hezbollah pagers?

Lebanon's Health Ministry said nine people were killed and at least 300 injured after explosions targeting walkie-talkies on the afternoon of September 18. Emergency services have taken nearly all of the injured to hospitals.

Earlier, in a series of explosions on September 17 targeting pagers, 12 people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured. Hezbollah accused Israel of being behind them, but Tel Aviv has not commented. Western media said that Israeli intelligence had planted explosives and triggers in the batch of pagers that Hezbollah imported months ago.

CNN on September 18 quoted a source revealing that Israeli officials informed the US that the country would carry out an operation in Lebanon on September 17 but did not specify what the plan was.

Israel and the US have not commented on this information. Washington previously affirmed that it was not involved and had no prior knowledge of the incident that occurred in Lebanon on September 17.
