More partners grant microchip software licenses to Ho Chi Minh City

VnExpressVnExpress30/05/2023

Cadence Company provides licenses (copyrights) for microchip design software to Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park to serve human resource training.

The cooperation agreement between the two units was signed on the morning of May 30, witnessed by leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and experts and scientists in the field of microchips.

Mr. Michael Shih, Vice President of Sales of Cadence, Asia Pacific and Japan, said that with more than 30 years of experience in the field of electronic design, the program will help students and lecturers increase their practical experience in designing and testing microchips. At the same time, it will help students solve technical problems in design and complete processes in chip manufacturing.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of SHTP Management Board, said that in August, along with training activities, the unit will organize incubation activities, forming start-up projects in semiconductor design, helping to build a source of domestic enterprises. From the initial enterprises, Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park will build a mechanism to attract enterprises to develop domestic microchip factories.

At SHTP, Intel is investing in the chip packaging stage. SHTP will develop a strategy to consolidate and develop the ecosystem, attracting other businesses to invest in machinery and equipment to build factories in the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park to serve the packaging stage. "These programs aim to make Vietnam one of the top 5 countries in the world with strong development in the semiconductor microchip field by 2030," said Mr. Thi. The development of microchip human resources will follow the direction of ordering from the market, serving first the domestic demand with a population of 100 million.

Highly appreciating the bilateral cooperation model, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung hopes that the cooperation in transferring microchip design content between enterprises and Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park is the first step in creating favorable conditions for building a team of microchip design human resources for application in many industries in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.

Human resource training activities have been promoted by SHTP recently. In March, this unit cooperated with Sun Electronics Group to inaugurate the International Electronics Training Center (IETC). The center is responsible for training human resources in the field of microchips according to the international standards of International Process Control (IPC). IETC will organize training programs on management and operation of electronics and microchip manufacturing plants. Learners are engineers working at enterprises, bachelors, entrepreneurs, and startups in the field of microchips...

Previously, in August 2022, Synopsys sponsored 30 microchip design licenses for 3 years worth tens of millions of USD for SHTP and organized training and granted certificates to the first 24 lecturers.
