In the October 2024 FIFA Days series for women's teams, the Vietnam women's team accepted an invitation to participate in the Triumvirate Friendly Tournament taking place in Chongqing (China). This tournament has the participation of 3 women's teams: China, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

Before entering the first match, the Vietnamese women's team made a personnel adjustment when striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan was injured and had to be treated, forcing the coaching staff to call up additional striker Vu Thi Hoa.

Sharing at the press conference before the match, coach Mai Duc Chung of the Vietnam women's team said: "This tournament takes place during the process of the Vietnam women's team's rejuvenation. Therefore, this will be a good opportunity for the players to learn from their opponents and accumulate experience for the future. With our opponent Uzbekistan, we lost to them 0-1 in the Paris Olympic qualifiers. I will never forget that match. Uzbekistan women's football has improved and is our opponent competing for a World Cup ticket. The opponent has a large body, good strength and fitness. The upcoming matches will help the Vietnam women's team compete and gain experience."

At this tournament, the Uzbekistan women's team also had a notable change when the head coach position belonged to Mr. Vladimir Panov, who led the Uzbekistan U17 women's team in 2023. Mr. Panov took over the position from Japanese coach - Midori Honda.

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will meet the Chinese women's team on October 29. Before that, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will meet the Uzbekistan women's team on October 23. The match between the Chinese women's team and the Uzbekistan women's team will be held on October 26.
