Establishment of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in An Giang province

On July 31, at Binh An Pagoda, Long Xuyen Ward (An Giang Province), the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in An Giang Province held a conference to announce decisions on personnel work.

The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha handed over the decision to merge the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Kien Giang province (old) and the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province (old) into the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province (new).

Attending the conference were Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of An Giang Province Danh Phuc; Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Thinh; Venerable Thich Thien Nhon - Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Sangha Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

At the conference, the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha announced the decision to merge the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Kien Giang province (old) and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province (old) into the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province (new); the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province consists of 128 members; of which, the Standing Committee consists of 52 members, with Most Venerable Thich Thien Thong as Head of the Committee.

The main headquarters is located at Tam Bao Pagoda, Rach Gia Ward and the second headquarters is located at Quang Duc Pagoda (Long Xuyen Ward). The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in An Giang Province announced the decision to establish 12 specialized committees and 1 sub-committee of nuns; assign heads, deputy heads and members of affiliated specialized committees; and assign personnel to be in charge of communes, wards and special zones in the province.

Most Venerable Thich Thien Phap - Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha presented the decision to the Head and Permanent Vice Head of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in An Giang province (new).

Speaking at the conference, Venerable Thich Thien Nhon congratulated those who were appointed by the Executive Council to hold positions in the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang Province (new). After the merger, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will only have 3 levels (Central, Provincial, and Base).

Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon hopes that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in An Giang province (new) will continue to promote the strength of internal solidarity, strive to complete Buddhist work well; specialized departments need to quickly consolidate the organization, soon come into operation; strive to complete the targets of the Resolution of the Provincial Buddhist Congress for the term 2022-2027.

Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of An Giang province Danh Phuc presented flowers to congratulate the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of An Giang province.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, the Board of Directors of An Giang Provincial Police and the leaders of Long Xuyen ward presented flowers to congratulate the conference.
