Many fire prevention and fighting measures have been deployed at Lam Kinh Relic Site to ensure the safety of visitors and protect the heritage.
Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site with ancient architecture, wooden temples and shrines, tiled roofs, located in the middle of a special-use forest with many ancient trees, bordering agricultural and forestry land of the people, so there is a potential risk of fire and explosion. Realizing that, the Relic Management Board has proactively mobilized human resources and invested in fire prevention and fighting works to ensure the safety of the relic and visitors. Currently, the relic site has invested in an automatic fire alarm system and a modern water pumping and spraying system at the Main Hall and Tep Temple. Fire cabinets are installed at the relic sites, more than 100 fire extinguishers are arranged and about 50 are ready in storage. For risky locations, in addition to arranging additional fire fighting equipment, the Relic Management Board has installed a system of signs instructing on fire prevention and fighting. The electrical system and switches at the relic sites are arranged scientifically , safely, and are always checked regularly by people. In addition, the large capacity generator system automatically turns on and off to always maintain power to the main power station to ensure fire prevention and fighting work.
The Monument Management Board also actively coordinated with functional forces to organize training on fire prevention and fighting for all officers and employees working at the monument; inspected fire prevention and fighting at the monument and in the special-use forest area. Coordinated with local authorities and functional forces to propagate to households bordering the monument to raise awareness and actions on forest and monument fire prevention and fighting.
Head of Lam Kinh Relic Management Board Ho Ha Hai said: “The Board identifies fire prevention and fighting as an important task that is carried out continuously throughout the year. During the upcoming September 2nd holiday, the relic site is expected to welcome a large number of visitors. Therefore, the Board has focused on reviewing and inspecting the entire fire prevention and fighting system.”
Similarly, at the Ba Trieu Temple National Historical Site, fire prevention is also given great attention. The temple area is built with ironwood, many flammable materials, and religious ceremonies and incense offerings often take place with large crowds, posing a potential risk of insecurity if not strictly controlled. Head of the Relic Management Board Nguyen Van Tinh said: “The Board identifies fire prevention and fighting as the top priority in the work of preserving and promoting the value of the relic. Therefore, we always take the initiative to develop fire prevention and fighting plans. Coordinate with functional forces to organize training, improve knowledge and skills of fire prevention and fighting for staff at the management board and those who care for the relic. At the same time, install a system of fire extinguishers, water tanks, water pipes, pumps... ready for fire fighting. The electrical system and plugs in the relic area and worship area are regularly inspected.”
Many other relics in the area such as Dong Co Temple (Quy Loc Commune), Song Son Temple (Quang Trung Ward), Han Son Temple (Tong Son Commune)... also have appropriate fire prevention and fighting plans. In particular, it focuses on arranging suitable incense burning areas, votive paper burning points far from wooden architectural spaces and worship areas; installing fire extinguisher systems and fire prevention and fighting signs in the relics.
Keeping relics safe is to preserve the traditional source. It is not only the responsibility of the functional sector or the management board, but also the mission of the whole community in the journey towards the origin. The initiative of specialized agencies, the dedication of those working in conservation and the positive awareness of the people are effective "shields" to protect heritage.
