Tan Minh talks about the hit Phuong Hong

In the early 1990s, while still a student, thanks to a predestined relationship, Tan Minh was invited to participate in the MV Phuong Hong broadcast on TV.

The song immediately became a phenomenon, admired by many people. Wherever she went, everyone knew her. Until now, many generations of audiences still say " my singer Phuong Hong ".

Tan Minh said before him, many people performed this song very well, but for him, it became a song that was forever associated with him.

"I'm not a very good singer, but overall it fits the song very well. At that time, Tan Minh weighed 50kg, looked like a scholar, had bangs, had an emotional voice, was a bit naive and innocent, and fit the song very well, so when listening/watching, my singing was lucky enough to touch everyone," he explained.

According to MC Long Vu, Phuong Hong is a song that every generation of students has heard and knows.

At that time, when listening to the song, Thu Huyen "was not moved, just admired". According to her, at that time, singers did not need to dance or have many elements like singers today, just need to sing, standing in one place was enough to make many people "die".

Tan Minh said that this was the time when he received handwritten letters every day. Not just one sack but many sacks. On average, he received 20-30 letters a day, with peak days reaching 80 letters, mostly expressing "admiration, love for singing, complimenting handsomeness".

Tan Minh loves Huyen "Cheo" after the album First Love Letter

The hit Phuong Hong brought Tan Minh to a wide audience, but the first love letter - the first album in his career - brought Tan Minh and Huyen "cheo" together.

Before that, the two had a very pure friendship because neither of them wanted to choose a life partner who was also an artist like them. Tan Minh also introduced Thu Huyen to his friends and protected her in terms of personality.

It was not until the early 2000s, when making the above album, that Tan Minh was so happy that the album had just finished its original form, so excited that he called his friends to help package the album so that it could be a complete product and reach the audience as soon as possible. Among them was Thu Huyen.

So in a moment of giving the album, four eyes looked at each other "fire flew".

After that day, Thu Huyen felt shy when meeting each other, and Tan Minh struggled internally for 1-2 weeks. Because if he wasn't careful, he would lose a friend.

As a result, Tan Minh confessed his love. Thu Huyen said that in love there are things that are very difficult to explain. It was a fate, a moment that completely changed her life.

The day Tan Minh and Huyen "cheo" officially fell in love was also the day that Hanoi's nightlife artists had another topic to "gossip". No one thought that a modern pop singer would fall in love with a very traditional cheo artist.

But Tan Minh said at that time he was 29 years old, mature enough to understand that this was the woman he needed in his life.

Album First Love Letter

"It's so hard to always think you're a star."

Currently, Tan Minh is the director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, while Thu Huyen holds the position of director of Hanoi Cheo Theater.

Both were awarded the title of People's Artist not long ago.

Tan Minh shared that after all his contributions to art, he and his wife are very happy to be recognized by the State, colleagues, and audiences. Especially that recognition is for today, not for tomorrow.

"We continue, we have not stopped because the goal of creation is more than that. Everything related to art, as long as we can continue, we will continue," he said.

They have been friends for 10 years, in love for 1 year, and family for more than 20 years.

The singer added that there are many artists who bring the spotlight to their families. That is not a good thing. He and his wife try to help each other "be more sober". If they cannot overcome it, always thinking of themselves as stars is very miserable.
