The above is one of the proposals of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism in the report sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong at the working session on activities related to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
According to the Department of Tourism, this unit has received feedback from international organizations, large tourism businesses, and international investors in Ho Chi Minh City about difficulties and long waiting times when going to and from Tan Son Nhat airport, especially at the immigration area, despite using business class services.
Department of Tourism proposes piloting priority immigration procedures exclusively for business class passengers
The units have recommended that the efficiency of immigration counters at the airport should be improved, that there should be a separate immigration lane for business class passengers, and that a fee for priority immigration services should be considered for passengers to choose.
The process of implementing immigration procedures through automatic control gates, implemented since August 2023 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, has somewhat shortened the waiting time for tourists. However, the Department of Tourism said it still received many complaints from tourists about having to queue for many hours to complete immigration procedures.
The City Department of Tourism also proposed applying 4.0 technology to reduce waiting time for tourists.
In addition, this unit also received a number of recommendations from airlines proposing to increase operating hours at the port during night hours.
Therefore, the Department of Tourism recommends that the Immigration Department and the Southern Airports Authority study a pilot mechanism to prioritize immigration procedures for business class passengers; increase operating hours at night; apply 4.0 technology in immigration, visa issuance and boarding procedures to reduce waiting time for tourists.
In addition, the Department of Tourism recommends that Vietnam Airports Corporation and Tan Son Nhat International Airport arrange a fixed location at the domestic and international arrival terminals to organize communication activities, visually promote images... information about the destination of Ho Chi Minh City throughout 2024 - 2025.
