The leaders of the Department of Transport reminded relevant parties to closely monitor the developments of storm Tra Mi; monitor the situation of heavy rain, flash floods, landslides to grasp information and proactively respond. Arrange forces to guard and guide traffic at locations at risk of deep flooding, fast-flowing water, especially through culverts, spillways, ferry terminals, and ferries; if safety is not ensured, traffic will be prohibited.

Prepare adequate spare materials, arrange machinery, equipment, materials and human resources in key locations that are frequently affected by landslides to proactively overcome them and ensure traffic in the fastest time. The implementation of the remedy must ensure the safety of people, construction equipment and construction items; special attention must be paid to construction items in areas prone to landslides, constructions in mountainous areas that are prone to sudden floods, flash floods and landslides.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, for projects and sections of national highways and provincial roads that have been handed over to management boards for construction, upgrading and renovation, the industry requires management boards to direct contractors to take preventive measures, ensure safety, move machinery and equipment to high places to avoid flooding, and be ready to support localities and people in responding to floods.

Implement the “4 on-site” motto so that when the water recedes, we will promptly fix the damage, focus on clearing rocks and soil, and fix the problems at landslide locations to clear traffic. In case of large landslides that cause traffic jams, we must immediately implement a remote traffic diversion plan; promptly fix the problem, mobilize the maximum amount of machinery, equipment and human resources available in the area to ensure traffic clearance in the fastest time.

The Department of Transport has also requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct organizations and individuals with boats, barges and other floating equipment to anchor securely and not let them drift freely with the current, affecting the safety of bridges and other construction works along the river. When a major flood occurs, it is recommended that Dien Ban town and Duy Xuyen district coordinate to prohibit people and vehicles from passing through the old Cau Lau bridge to ensure the safety of people and property.
