Reporter of Industry and Trade Newspaper had an interview with Ms. Le Thi Duc - Vice President of Vietnam Industry and Trade Union on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day March 8.

Could you please tell us about the action plans that the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade will implement this year to support and create a fair and civilized working environment, especially for female workers in the industry?

The Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade is managing 15 trade unions at the grassroots level and more than 500 grassroots trade unions with 139,481 union members out of a total of 148,110 workers; of which, female workers are 43,809 people, accounting for 29.6%. Last year, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade directed and guided trade unions at all levels to focus on and promote propaganda activities, clearly recognize the important role of female workers, care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of female workers, civil servants and laborers; participate in inspection work and coordinate inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies for female workers; organize emulation movements among female workers, civil servants and laborers.

Inheriting the achievements of the team of workers, civil servants, and laborers in general and female workers, civil servants, and laborers in the Industry and Trade sector in particular, implementing the plan to launch emulation movements and based on the guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for women's work in 2025, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day March 8, the leaders of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade continue to launch emulation movements among female workers, civil servants, and laborers and the Ao Dai Week in 2025. Specifically, continue to promote and strengthen emulation movements among female workers, civil servants, and laborers according to the actual implementation at the unit to encourage and motivate female union members and laborers to strive to excellently complete their professional tasks, pay attention to taking care of the health and spirit of female workers and children in the current context, perform well the function of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of female workers, gender equality, improving working conditions... through Through dialogue and negotiation, sign collective labor agreements at the workplace .

Women's work flourishes

It is known that the activities of trade unions at all levels and women's work in units have improved, contributing to the overall achievements of each agency, unit and the Industry and Trade sector. What do you think about this issue?

The Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade has launched the "Ao Dai Week" for female union members and workers to wear Ao Dai during working days in accordance with the conditions and characteristics of their jobs. Organizing rich and diverse activities to attract a large number of female union members and workers to participate on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day, March 8.

In 2025, in order to further promote the role of the Women's Union at all levels, the Vietnam General Confederation of Industry and Trade has requested that all levels of trade unions in the industry effectively implement the following contents: Emulating the propaganda of Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; improving the quality of women's work activities; concretizing the Resolution of the Trade Union Congress at all levels into women's work. Focusing on implementing solutions to innovate the content and methods of mobilizing female workers, civil servants and laborers in the spirit of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo.

In addition, mobilize female union members and workers to actively participate in emulation movements launched by the unit such as the emulation movements "Good worker, creative worker", "Good consultant, good service"; emulation movements "Good at public work, good at housework" among female workers, civil servants and workers according to the actual situation at each agency, unit and enterprise.

"Good at public affairs, good at home affairs"

In recent times, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade has effectively implemented emulation movements, typically the movement of “being good at public work, taking care of housework”, thereby promptly recognizing and honoring outstanding female workers, civil servants and laborers in the industry. Could you tell us more about this content?

In fact, over the past time, trade unions at all levels in the industry have done a good job of mobilizing female workers, civil servants and laborers of the unit to carry out the emulation movement well, especially improving the quality of the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework". With many efforts, the Women's Union has promoted its core role in guiding the launch of this emulation movement, attracting a large number of female union members, workers, civil servants and laborers to register for the emulation. As a result, in 2024, over 95% of female union members, workers, civil servants and laborers of the units achieved the emulation title "Good at public work, good at housework" and achieved the title of cultural family.

It can be said that the Women's Union at all levels regularly grasps the thoughts and aspirations of women, especially paying attention to women in difficult circumstances. The movement "Good at public work, good at housework" among female workers, civil servants and laborers has promptly encouraged women in all fields; for women, this is a priceless spiritual gift, a solid lever, for women to overcome difficulties, strive to complete assigned tasks well, rise up and assert themselves.

From this emulation movement, many typical female collectives and individuals have emerged in the fields of management, training, scientific research, production and business, and creative labor. These typical examples of collectives and individuals have been and are tirelessly contributing to the growth and development of the unit, the industry, the homeland and the country, and building a warm home for each family.
