3,745 kg of suspected marijuana discovered in luggage of passengers entering Da Nang International Airport

In order to strengthen the work of preventing smuggling and controlling drugs during the transition period and reorganizing the new apparatus, the Customs Branch of Region XII has directed specialized units and the Border Gate Customs to arrange 100% of the staff to work; directed the Customs Control Team to coordinate with the Border Gate Customs to establish a special project to combat drugs, prohibited goods, and key goods.

Accordingly, at 10:30 a.m. on March 15, 2025, during the inspection and control of the entry flight from Thailand to Vietnam via Da Nang International Airport, the Working Group (Da Nang International Airport Customs, Customs Control Team of Region XII Customs Branch, Anti-smuggling Investigation Department, Da Nang International Airport Police, Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Da Nang City Police) discovered a Vietnamese passenger carrying checked and carry-on luggage with suspicious signs.

Simultaneous professional measures (checking with X-ray machine, checking with drug detector and sniffer dog) showed that the suspected item was marijuana, weighing 3.745 kg (including packaging), value undetermined.

The case has been transferred to relevant authorities for further investigation and handling according to regulations.
