Assigning import quota of 121,000 tons of sugar to 7 enterprises

The total amount of sugar in 2024 allocated by auction to 7 enterprises is 121,000 tons out of the total import tariff quota announced in 2024 of 126,000 tons, accounting for 96.03%.

7 enterprises were assigned import tariff quotas of 121,000 tons of sugar in 2024.

On the morning of September 20, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a session to allocate import tariff quotas for sugar products by auction in 2024.

The auction of sugar import quota allocation is carried out in accordance with Vietnam's commitment to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the management of import tariff quotas.

Previously, the Minister of Industry and Trade signed and issued Decision No. 2226/QD-BCT dated August 20, 2024 on the quantity, time, and method of allocating import tariff quotas of 126,000 tons of sugar in 2024.

The results of the 2024 sugar import tariff quota allocation session by auction method are as follows:

7 enterprises registered for 2024 sugar import tariff quotas allocated by auction with complete and valid documents and bids.

All 7 enterprises were assigned sugar import quotas, including: Vietnam Sugar Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; Bien Hoa Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; AgriS Ninh Hoa Import-Export Joint Stock Company: 20,000 tons; Song Lam Sugar Joint Stock Company: 1,000 tons.

The Council for Allocation of Sugar Import Tariff Quotas for 2024 said that the total amount of sugar in 2024 allocated by auction is 121,000 tons out of the total amount of import tariff quota announced in 2024 of 126,000 tons, accounting for 96.03%.

Last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized an auction to allocate import tariff quotas for 119,000 tons of sugar, with 8 enterprises winning bids to import 107,000 tons of sugar at the auction.

Of which, 5 enterprises are: Vietnam Sugar Joint Stock Company, Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company, Bien Hoa Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company, Bien Hoa - Ninh Hoa Sugar One Member Co., Ltd. and Lam Son Sugar Cane Joint Stock Company are assigned an import quota of 20,000 tons each.

The remaining 3 enterprises, including: Son La Sugarcane Joint Stock Company was assigned 5,000 tons, Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam Joint Stock Company 1,000 tons, Kinh Do Northern One Member Co., Ltd. 1,000 tons.
