Donald Trump attended the annual policy meeting of House Republicans on January 27. The US President reviewed the outstanding policies after one week in office and outlined his stance for the next move.

According to The Hill , the US president spent much of his speech reiterating the long list of executive orders he signed in his first week in office.

He said his success in the 2024 presidential election was partly due to young people and TikTok. The White House leader signed an executive order to delay the ban on TikTok for another 75 days to find a solution to TikTok being banned by Congress in the US.

The focus of Mr. Trump's speech was on immigration, with a focus on issuing orders to tighten immigration and deport illegal immigrants, while also having plans to deal with criminal gangs.

Regarding the field of artificial intelligence (AI), with the Chinese startup launching the DeepSeek AI system, which has caused a stir in the US, Mr. Trump said that the appearance of DeepSeek is like a "wake-up call" and plays a role in promoting American companies to increase their competitiveness.

At a meeting of Republican congressmen in the US House of Representatives, Mr. Trump called for unity to push the agenda, admitting that the majority gap in the House of Representatives is not large, with 218 Republican congressmen and 215 Democratic congressmen, so party members need to be almost absolutely unified to pass the policy.

Also on January 27, the US Senate approved businessman Scott Bessent as US Treasury Secretary with 68 votes in favor and 29 votes against.
