In order to create livelihood conditions for people when the flood season is coming, and at the same time raise awareness and responsibility in exploiting and protecting aquatic resources, the People's Committee of Phu Loi commune, Thanh Binh district (Dong Thap province) has deployed a fish storage model, implemented by community organizations to co-manage and protect aquatic resources.

The fish storage model was implemented in Hamlet 4, Phu Loi Commune, Thanh Binh District, Dong Thap Province.

Accordingly, the model of raising and storing freshwater fish was implemented at Cooperative Group No. 7, Hamlet 4, Phu Loi Commune, Thanh Binh District, Dong Thap Province.

There are 54 members participating in the freshwater fish farming model. The area for implementing the freshwater fish farming model is 663ha for flood discharge.

The group is responsible for protecting and exploiting aquatic resources, combining aquaculture and other activities according to the law to increase income for group members.

In addition, the team will organize patrols to prevent illegal fishing, contributing to protecting the ecological environment and developing aquatic resources.

In the 2024 flood season, Phu Loi commune, Thanh Binh district (Dong Thap province) released floodwaters on a field area of ​​3,209 hectares.

Besides collecting alluvium for the fields, the model of raising and storing fish also creates additional income for people with livelihood activities when the water floods the fields.
