From early morning, Mr. Nguyen Quang Dinh and his wife in Hoa Binh village (Thinh Loc commune) went to the field early to harvest peanuts. This year, Mr. Dinh's family planted 10 sao of peanuts, and have now harvested 7 sao. Thanks to favorable weather, few pests, careful care, good plant growth... the tuber yield is high.
Mr. Dinh shared: “My family’s peanut fields this year yielded about 1.5 quintals/sao, with some areas yielding about 1.7 quintals/sao, so we are very excited. Not only my family but also the villagers and commune are very happy because the peanut yield is much higher than last year. Currently, we are rushing to speed up the harvest to avoid rain.”

Chairman of Thinh Loc Commune People's Committee Nguyen Khac Phong said: "This spring crop, the whole commune sowed 180 hectares of peanuts. Thanks to the agricultural sector and the commune focusing on directing production on time, structuring the right varieties, ensuring production materials and favorable weather, and people sticking to the fields... we had a successful crop.
Up to this point, people have harvested about 50% of the area and are expected to complete it in the next few days. According to initial assessments, this crop's yield is estimated at over 30 quintals/ha (about 7 quintals/ha higher than the previous crop), with an output of over 540 tons. Production is favorable, the harvest is good, and after harvesting, it can be sold immediately at a high price, so people are very happy."

This year, Mr. Phan Van Truc in Xuan Hai residential group (Loc Ha town) is very excited when 20 sao of spring peanuts have a bumper crop. Because they are cultivated in sandy soil, selected good varieties (L14, V79), fertilized with a lot of manure, and not attacked by pests, the yield reaches 2 quintals/sao (40 quintals/ha). Currently, his family is mobilizing maximum human resources to harvest and has completed 12 sao.

Vice Chairman of Loc Ha Town People's Committee Nguyen Van Tinh said: "This year, Loc Ha Town has planted the largest area of peanuts in the district, with 197 hectares. Currently, people have harvested 70% of the area. The peanut yield is estimated at 36 quintals/ha - the highest in the district and 12 quintals/ha higher than last year. Along with speeding up the harvest to complete it in the next few days, people are also focusing on pruning tubers, drying, and collecting plant residues for animal feed...".

In the 2023 spring peanut crop, Loc Ha peanut granary planted 966 hectares (34 hectares less than last year), mainly varieties L14, V79, TK10... Key production localities are areas with advantages of sandy loam soil, with a tradition of producing this staple crop including: Loc Ha town 197 hectares, Thach Chau 196 hectares, Thinh Loc 180 hectares, Thach My 115 hectares, Binh An 109 hectares...
According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Loc Ha district, up to now, the peanut harvest area is estimated to reach more than 50%, the yield is estimated to reach 29 quintals/ha (6.6 quintals/ha higher than last year), the output is estimated to reach over 2,800 tons. The sandy, high land areas yield from 35 - 36 quintals/ha, in some areas up to nearly 40 quintals/ha.

According to Loc Ha farmers, this year's peanut harvest is not only good but also the price is better than last year. Currently, 1 ton of fresh peanuts is sold at the field for 22 million VND, the type that has been dried but not completely dried costs 28 million VND/ton. This price is about 2 million VND/ton higher than in 2022.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam - a peanut buyer in Lien Giang village, Thach My commune (Loc Ha) informed: "The peanut market this year is quite good, the goods we buy are quickly transported to separate the seeds and exported. According to forecasts from major collectors, in the coming time, the price and market for peanuts will remain stable, possibly even increasing to 30 million VND/ton".
