Many valuable documents at the Online Exhibition Dear Capital People

The exhibition aims to introduce to the public archival documents and illustrations of the struggle against the French by Hanoi 's army and people from the late 19th century to 1954, many of which are published for the first time.

"Compatriots of the Capital!" was a familiar call during the resistance war against the French in Hanoi. During nearly a century under the yoke of French colonialism, especially since the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , many popular struggles took place vigorously, creating the premise for later uprisings.

The August 1945 general uprising in the form of demonstrations by 200,000 people inside and outside Hanoi won a glorious victory. From then on, the government in Hanoi fell into the hands of the Viet Minh. Hanoi revived to welcome Independence Day - National Day September 2.

The smoke of war continued to cover the streets of Hanoi from the end of 1946 when the French colonialists returned to invade our country. Responding to President Ho's call for national resistance, the entire army and people of Hanoi fought steadfastly, determined to sacrifice everything for the beloved capital.

After 8 years of fierce resistance, the people of the capital were happy to welcome the victorious army marching to liberate Hanoi. The red flag with yellow star fluttered on the Hanoi Flagpole, ending a journey full of hardships, sacrifices but extremely heroic and glorious. The capital Hanoi was resplendent with the light of Peace - Independence - Freedom in the days of October 1954.

The online 3D exhibition “Hey Capital People!” allows viewers to experience Hanoi during the resistance war against the French anytime, anywhere. Documents and images are presented in 3D from Hanoi Citadel to Dong Xuan Market, through the Old Quarter and Opera House Square towards Bac Bo Palace.

The exhibition opened on September 20 and consists of three parts. Part “Hanoi on fire, smoke and fire filling the sky” introduces documents and images about the early stages of the French colonial invasion in Hanoi. Part 2 “Hanoi rises up” introduces documents and images about the revolutionary struggles in Hanoi from 1930 to 1954. Part 3 “Hanoi on the day of victory” introduces documents and images of the liberation day, forever echoing the triumphal song.

According to the Organizing Committee, the exhibition is expected to bring interesting experiences to the public using digital technology , providing useful information about the history of Hanoi, contributing to nurturing the patriotism and pride of Hanoi people along with the development of cultural industry in the capital.
