On the afternoon of October 25, more than 10 days after the movie Dat rung phuong Nam was released, director Nguyen Quang Dung posted on his personal page, expressing his opinion on the noise and controversy surrounding this film.
Nguyen Quang Dung said that recently, he has been following and reading all the comments about the film Southern Forest Land on social networks and noticed that many people attacked and insulted this work even though they had not seen the film.

The male director shared that when he started making the film, he wanted the film version of Southern Forest Land to exploit ideals through the journey of the boy An in many environments and groups...
He affirmed that this work is for families, connecting generations, promoting humanity, love for the land and the responsibility of adults to the next generation.
The male director also added that the filmmakers of Southern Forest Land quickly edited some "unimportant details in the film" because they wanted the audience to focus on the main purposes of this work, avoiding misunderstandings or "worrying" about small details.
Director Nguyen Quang Dung expressed that when he saw many people using harsh words and vicious language to insult the film, he felt embarrassed.
"I really don't exalt myself, and I understand that not all films are made with a lot of investment and passion, so people have to love them. Whoever watches the film and praises or criticizes it, I take note. I also have my "immature" and "not-so-perfect" qualities, some people like it, some people don't like it, it's very normal.
In this profession, we grow and develop thanks to difficult customers. I think so. But the culture of insulting, burying and eliminating is too worrisome," Nguyen Quang Dung expressed.

Previously, when the first images were released, Southern Forest Land received many mixed opinions. When the film was officially released, the audience argued more and more about the setting and content of the film. Some opinions said that the work contained "historical inaccuracies" in the Southern region in the early 20th century.
In response to audience feedback, the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the filmmaker had a discussion. Afterwards, the film producer announced that some points in the film would be revised to avoid causing misunderstandings with the audience.
However, until now, controversies related to director Nguyen Quang Dung's work still smolder on social networks.
Southern Forest Land is a film version inherited and developed from the novel of the same name by writer Doan Gioi. The film tells the adventure journey of An - a boy who unfortunately lost his mother on the way to find his father.
Compared to the first film released in theaters on October 13, the current version of the film Southern Forest has been edited in the following points:
- The line "Inspired by the novel of the same name by writer Doan Gioi and the film Dat Phuong Nam " is placed at the beginning of the film, to clarify the similarity in space and time setting (in the 1920s-1930s) of the film Dat Rung Phuong Nam and the TV series Dat Phuong Nam .
This setting is different from the spatial and temporal setting of the novel Southern Forest Land by writer Doan Gioi (in 1945).
- Add content to the introduction "The journey is still ahead" to "End of part 1 - The journey is still ahead". This adjustment is to more clearly affirm the producer's intention for part 2 to tell about the journey of the character An in the future.
- Adjust the phrase "Boxer" to "Southern Boxer" and "Heaven and Earth Society" to "Righteous Society" in all lines related to these two phrases in the movie Southern Forest .
