Regarding the purchase of SJC gold bars at state-owned commercial banks, three more banks, BIDV, Agribank, and Vietinbank, announced that from today (June 17), they will temporarily stop taking direct waiting numbers. Buyers can register for gold transactions via the bank's website or scan the QR code.
At Vietinbank branch at 81 Hue Street (Hanoi) this morning, the chaos and jostling are gone, but there are still many people waiting in line since early morning. Some customers come to get a number, others bring their numbers and wait to make a transaction.
Mr. Ha (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) said that he took a waiting number here last Monday, but after a week, today he received the answer from the bank staff that "it's not your turn yet". He also hasn't received a new appointment.
At 8:45 a.m., a bank employee announced that from June 17, Vietinbank would open online registration on the bank's website, but there was no specific announcement. Those who had previously taken a direct waiting number could still go to the branch to make transactions today.
However, the general consensus is that there are no longer long lines of people waiting to buy gold.
At SJC Jewelry Store at 18 Tran Nhan Tong, customers register to buy gold via text message according to the syntax posted outside the store.
In the past, people lined up from dawn, some even stayed up all night to wait for the store to open, to get a number. However, with the registration to receive a number via text message, many people said they had texted 3 days ago but still had not received any confirmation from the store.
A few confirmed people said that after texting according to the syntax and filling in personal information via text message, the bank will send a waiting number to the customer and schedule a date for the transaction.
At 9:15 a.m. on June 17, this SJC store started calling confirmed customers to make transactions. Many people wondered whether the gold shop would confirm the unconfirmed messages in order during the day or would have to confirm again the next day.
Most of the customers who were allowed to trade were those who had sent a registration message 2-3 days ago, with a small number of transactions. By 9:44, only 2-3 people had successfully traded.
Employees of banks and SJC stores had to go out to announce that people should register online and not wait in line. Ms. Mai (Dong Da, Hanoi) has been waiting here since 6am, saying that she saw the notice to register online but still wanted to wait, who knows if a “miracle” would happen.
