The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed on March 30 that it had arrested three suspects from “a Central Asian country” who were plotting an attack in southern Russia.
According to the FSB, the agency “prevented terrorist activities of three citizens from a Central Asian country who were planning to commit a terrorist act by detonating an explosive device in a public area in the Stavropol region.”
Russian television showed several men being pinned to the ground by FSB agents, while RIA Novosti news agency reported that parts of an improvised explosive device and chemicals were found at the home of one of the three suspects.
In related news, the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization confirmed that four members of this organization were arrested after attacking the Crocus City Hall theater in the suburbs of Moscow, Russia.
In a statement published in the online weekly Al-Nabaa on March 29, IS said its fighters had been targeted by Russian air and ground forces. Some members were surrounded in a forest and later arrested.
