The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just updated that on April 9, the Southern region experienced extremely severe heat in many places such as: Bien Hoa (Dong Nai) 40 degrees Celsius, Long Khanh (Dong Nai) 39.5 degrees Celsius, Thu Dau Mot (Binh Duong) 39.2 degrees Celsius.

Other areas in the Mekong Delta also experienced widespread heat and severe heat with common temperatures ranging from 36 - 38 degrees Celsius.

In the West, severe heat above 37 degrees Celsius also appeared in many places such as: Vinh Long 37.5 degrees Celsius, Cao Lanh (Dong Thap) 37.2 degrees Celsius, Chau Doc (An Giang) 37.1 degrees Celsius. Many localities such as Ben Tre, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang also recorded heat above 36 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the South, the Central Highlands region has localized heat with the highest temperature above 35 degrees Celsius.

"The heat wave in the South is likely to last for many days to come. The risk level of natural disasters caused by heat waves is at level 1. Compared to meteorological temperatures, the actual temperature felt outdoors can be 2-4 degrees higher, or even higher depending on the conditions of the surface such as concrete and asphalt. Heat waves can cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke to the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time. Therefore, people need to pay attention to protecting their health in addition to preventing fires and forest fires," meteorological experts noted.
