People's Artist Hoang Cuc was born in 1957 in Hung Yen. Since childhood, Hoang Cuc has loved reading books. At the age of 13, the artist had read classic works of world literature such as: War and Peace, Quiet Flows the Don ... The love for art is nurtured every day in the artist's emotional soul.
After finishing high school, Hoang Cuc entered the Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) and then worked for 2 years at the Tuyen Quang Province Art Troupe. She decided to continue studying for 4 more years to become a professional drama actress. That decision completely changed Hoang Cuc's life later on, giving the Vietnamese stage and screen a beauty with expressive eyes and excellent acting ability.

People's Artist Hoang Cuc applied to join the Hanoi Drama Troupe (now the Hanoi Drama Theater) because she was fascinated by the play Conspiracy and Love. The roles played by artists Thanh Tu, Dam Ca, and Tran Van made her dream of one day shining on stage like that.
The former Vietnamese screen beauty said that acting is her career and mission.
Hoang Cuc's first role was Sa-ghi-a in The Woman Behind the Green Door (Russian script) in 1984. Initially, she was not on the cast list so she asked director Ta Xuyen to let her audition. The moment the female artist transformed into a gentle but fierce wife to protect equal rights delighted the director. Finally, she was chosen for the main role, playing alongside artists Hoang Dung, Minh Vuong and Minh Trang.

During her 30 years working at the Hanoi Drama Theater, People's Artist Hoang Cuc had memorable roles and won many awards in the plays: My Village's Lock Master, Street Eyes, Me and Us, You're Gradually Beautiful in My Eyes, Thinking About Yourself, Begging the Past, Milk Flower Season... She held the position of Deputy Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater from 2001 until her retirement. In 1997, Hoang Cuc was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. In 2011, she received the title of People's Artist.
During 30 years working at Hanoi Drama Theater, People's Artist Hoang Cuc has had memorable roles and won many awards.
When performing the play I and We (Luu Quang Vu), Hoang Cuc was pregnant with her first son. Two and a half months after giving birth, she began to return to the stage. The artist left her son in the wings, asking the backstage staff to look after him. One day, Hoang Cuc shed tears on stage because of her role, while her son cried below because he was thirsty for milk. When her son was 7 months old, she took him all over the country. The son, named Le Hoang Linh, later became an editor for VTV and his daughter-in-law is actress and MC Nguyen Thuy Linh of the Hanoi Drama Theater.
The People's Artist is also a familiar face to many generations of television audiences through the films: Retired General, The Shell, Falling into the Trap, Orange Bell, River of Desire, Ephemeral Life...
Perhaps the role of Thuy in Retired General (director Nguyen Khac Loi) is an unforgettable milestone in the artistic career of People's Artist Hoang Cuc. The beauty of People's Artist Hoang Cuc's sharp eyes and accented voice left an impression of the daughter-in-law of a general who had to struggle in the market economy period.

In 2010, People's Artist Hoang Cuc was diagnosed with stage three cancer. Not giving up on her fate, she steadfastly overcame both physical and mental pain. Her hair fell out in clumps due to chemotherapy, so the artist proactively called a barber to shave her head. In her most painful moments, she found joy and strength from her family.

After a period of absence due to illness, Hoang Cuc returned to the small screen and attracted attention with her role as a mother-in-law in Rose on the Left Chest . Previously, due to concerns about her health, Hoang Cuc refused many film scripts.

Having been a grandmother for a long time, People's Artist Hoang Cuc dyed her hair platinum blonde, composed poems, wrote short stories, took photos, traveled and took care of her children and grandchildren.
She also opened a very professional hair salon, a prestigious beauty salon for friends, colleagues and many customers.
People's Artist Hoang Cuc is jokingly called "The most playboy grandmother in showbiz".
Recently, the People's Artist released a long poem about her life at the age of U70, surprising many people. The long poem Cuc is closely associated with her life, the worldview of the characters she played, and the fate of people in general, especially the fate of women.
All revenue from the Cuc epic is donated by People's Artist Hoang Cuc to support poor children in remote and mountainous areas, continuing the charity work she has done over the years.
“When I was sick, I sat down to write stories or poems as a way of life, each work is the quintessence distilled from myself. I kept my passion for life to nourish my soul and body,” the female artist confided.
