People's Artist Hoang Cuc was born in 1957 in Hung Yen. Since childhood, Hoang Cuc has loved reading books. At the age of 13, the artist had read classic works of world literature such as: War and Peace, Quiet Flows the Don ... The love for art is nurtured every day in the artist's emotional soul.

Hoang Cuc's first role was Sa-ghi-a in The Woman Behind the Green Door (Russian script) in 1984. Initially, she was not on the cast list so she asked director Ta Xuyen to let her audition. She held the position of Deputy Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater from 2001 until her retirement. In 1997, Hoang Cuc was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. During 30 years working at Hanoi Drama Theater, People's Artist Hoang Cuc has had memorable roles and won many awards.

When performing the play I and We (Luu Quang Vu), Hoang Cuc was pregnant with her first son. Two and a half months after giving birth, she began to return to the stage. The artist left her son in the wings, asking the backstage staff to look after him. One day, Hoang Cuc shed tears on stage because of her role, while her son cried below because he was thirsty for milk. When her son was 7 months old, she took him all over the country. The son, named Le Hoang Linh, later became an editor for VTV and his daughter-in-law is actress and MC Nguyen Thuy Linh of the Hanoi Drama Theater.

The People's Artist is also a familiar face to many generations of television audiences through the films: Retired General, The Shell, Falling into the Trap, Orange Bell, River of Desire, Ephemeral Life...

In 2010, People's Artist Hoang Cuc was diagnosed with stage three cancer. Not giving up on her fate, she steadfastly overcame both physical and mental pain. Her hair fell out in clumps due to chemotherapy, so the artist proactively called a barber to shave her head. In her most painful moments, she found joy and strength from her family.
