On the afternoon of April 16, receiving Mr. Jilei Hou, Senior Vice President in charge of technology of Qualcomm Corporation, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the Corporation's acquisition of part of MovianAI Artificial Intelligence Company from Vingroup; saying that Qualcomm's decision to make a large and long-term investment in Vietnam was wise and correct.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam has a relatively good AI and semiconductor industry ecosystem, gathering many of the world's leading names; a stable political environment, with special attention from Government leaders; clear strategies and commitments, and preferential policies for the development of this field.
Vietnam is also investing heavily in technology infrastructure and has a very strong training implementation plan, fully converging the necessary factors, this is an advantage that other countries do not have.
Appreciating Qualcomm's contributions to Vietnam in recent times, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said Qualcomm is a partner that Vietnam is particularly interested in and wishes to promote cooperative relations.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared that he had met Qualcomm leaders many times and the discussion was always about how to promote more investment and stronger cooperation with Vietnam.
With Qualcomm acquiring part of MovianAI Company, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Group will have a clearer and more specific development strategy after acquiring this company. Qualcomm's cooperation will support Vietnamese businesses to grow.

Emphasizing three wishes of Qualcomm, which are to pay attention to research and development, human resource training, and support for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global value chain, the Deputy Prime Minister informed about the plan to train human resources in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries; suggested that the Group participate in training programs for human resources for Vietnam, and have programs for young people to participate in accessing AI early, from a distance, from a young age, such as STEAM education, contributing to training talents for Vietnam.
Along with that, there is a specific program to support Vietnamese experts, start-ups, and businesses to develop and connect to the global value chain.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared that Vietnam wants to become a regional and global center for AI and semiconductors; he hopes Qualcomm will create and contribute with Vietnam to strive for this ambitious goal.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister also hopes that the Group will soon position its strategy in Vietnam and soon become an important strategic partner of Vietnam in the AI and semiconductor industry; contribute to policy mechanisms to develop this field; and attract investors in Qualcomm's ecosystem to Vietnam.
Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Jilei Hou, Senior Vice President in charge of technology, said that Qualcomm is the world's leading corporation in the field of telecommunications and mobile devices with a capitalization value of about 154 billion USD; currently leading in the field of 5G, operating under a fabless manufacturing model, and expanding its business to design, develop semiconductor chips, software and services for other fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), automobiles, computers, Internet of Things (IoT).
In Vietnam, the Group has 2 representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the first Research and Development Center in Southeast Asia in Hanoi in 2020.
Notably, Qualcomm has had a prominent initiative, the Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge (QVIC), which is held annually to incubate and support Vietnamese technology startups in finance, technology, business, and intellectual property.
Mr. Jilei Hou introduced the plan to acquire MovianAI, demonstrating Qualcomm's strong commitment to nurturing talents for Vietnam, thereby having more opportunities to contribute to the development of global artificial intelligence.
Regarding Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung's sharing about the ambition to turn Vietnam into a regional and world center for AI and semiconductors, Mr. Jilei Hou said that these are two areas in which Qualcomm has the greatest strengths, so the Group is ready to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises to turn this ambition into reality./.
