According to Gaming Bolt , Microsoft has made no secret of its intention to further expand its presence in mobile gaming. In fact, this was even one of the key factors that led to the company's attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard. To achieve that goal, the Xbox mobile store is a key part of Microsoft's plans.
Microsoft is actively developing the Xbox Mobile Store
According to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, the company is “actively working” on an Xbox store for mobile devices. He also added that Microsoft is talking to partners about the most potential monetization options for mobile titles that will be available on the store in the future.
“It’s a big part of our strategy and something we’re actively working on right now, not just on our own but talking to a lot of other partners who also want more options for how they can monetize on their phones,” Spencer said.
Spencer didn't give a specific timeline for the launch of the Xbox mobile store, but he said it wasn't something that would take years, but rather something that would happen sometime in the future.
This isn't the first time Microsoft has spoken out about plans to launch a mobile Xbox store. The company confirmed in October 2022 that it was developing a "next-generation" mobile store to compete with Apple and Google.
