According to the Mirror, Man City need to quickly sell five players in Pep Guardiola's squad to comply with UEFA regulations, before they can register their list for next season's Champions League .

After a trophyless season, Man City embarked on a shopping spree to get back on track for the title on all fronts. They brought to Etihad contracts, including Rayan Cherki, Rayan Air-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan, along with goalkeepers James Trafford and Marcus Bettinelli.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola said goodbye to veteran players Kevin de Bruyne, Kyle Walker, and Scott Carson, along with young players like Yan Couto and Maxico Perrone after a loan period.
However, Man City's squad still has 32 names and they need to act quickly - liquidate 5 players, to meet UEFA's requirements.
If in the Premier League, Man City only needs to reduce 1 player, based on the rules for domestic players and under 21 years old, then UEFA only allows them to register a maximum of 25 names in list A in the Champions League.
The players named by Man City as ready to be sold in the final days of the 2025 summer transfer window include Jack Grealish, James McAtee, Kalvin Phillips and goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, but have yet to receive suitable offers.
Everton are reportedly pushing for a loan move for Man City's record signing Jack Grealish, while McAtee is valued at around £40m and has attracted interest from Nottingham and Frankfurt. Tottenham are reportedly considering McAtee as a replacement for James Maddison, who recently suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and is likely to be out for a long time.

Goalkeeper Ortega is likely to return to the Bundesliga, while Phillips is rumoured to be reuniting with former club Leeds United, but his £120,000-a-week salary is a significant barrier.
Meanwhile, young Brazilian defender Vitor Reis has joined Girona, who are also considering loaning out Claudio Echeverri and Nypan.
Due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, Man City only had one friendly match before the new season (a 3-0 win over Palermo) last Saturday night. Pep Guardiola's team will have their Premier League 2025/26 opening match against Wolves at 11:30 p.m. on August 16.
