In its performance report for February this year, Pyn Elite Fund - one of the largest foreign funds in the Vietnamese stock market - said it had recently purchased 54 million VIB shares, equivalent to 1.8% of the bank's charter capital.

Pyn Elite Fund's purchase was made when Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) divested from VIB.

After the above deal, Pyn Elite Fund added VIB code to its investment portfolio at a rate of 6%. This fund has an appetite for investing in banking stocks when owning many codes such as STB of Sacombank (nearly 20% of the portfolio), MBBank, TPBank, VietinBank...

CBA has previously been required to divest its investments in Indonesia, China and Vietnam due to a directive from the Reserve Bank of Australia to exit overseas businesses.

Previously, CBA became a strategic investor of VIB in 2010, holding 15% of shares and then gradually increasing its ownership ratio to 19.8%.

However, since September last year, the major Australian bank has begun to gradually reduce its holdings in VIB. On March 5, 2025, CBA ended its role as a strategic shareholder in this bank.

Pyn Elite Fund has been closely monitoring CBA's move and has acquired 42% of the total shares on offer.

VIB is a bank chaired by Mr. Dang Khac Vy. On its website, VIB introduced itself as being established in 1996 with an initial charter capital of 50 billion VND and 23 employees.

By the end of 2024, this bank will have a total of 11,323 employees and a charter capital of VND 29,793 billion.

Recently, VIB has updated the shareholders owning 1% or more of charter capital at VIB. Accordingly, ACB Securities Company Limited owns nearly 30 million VIB shares, equivalent to 1% of the bank's capital.

The number of shares of people related to ACB Securities at VIB is 995,454 shares, equivalent to 0.033% of capital.

ACB Securities (ACBS), chaired by Mr. Do Minh Toan and legal representative, is a company under Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB). This securities company has a charter capital of 10,000 billion VND.
