Krystal, Jennie (BlackPink) confirmed to attend Cannes Film Festival
In just a few hours, the 76th Cannes Film Festival will officially open in the coastal city of Cannes, France. The world's leading film event will take place from May 16 to 27 (local time).
The 2023 Cannes Film Festival promises to bring together a global star cast such as: Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Edward Norton, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody and Hong Chau...
Krystal Jung will attend the 76th Cannes Film Festival
Notably, this year's Cannes Film Festival also welcomed famous Korean idols such as Jennie (BlackPink) and Krystal Jung. Representatives of the two female idols confirmed this information.
As for Krystal, her management company revealed that the movie "Cobweb" in which she participates will premiere on May 25. Krystal will carry out scheduled activities including an official press conference and red carpet event with director Kim Ji Woon as well as her colleagues in the movie.
Speaking about her appearance at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Krystal expressed excitement and gratitude.
She shared on her personal page: “I am very happy and honored to be invited to attend the Cannes Film Festival, this has simply been a dream since I started my acting career.
"Cobweb" is a project that I love so much that filming it makes my heart flutter. I hope many viewers will watch and enjoy this film. Since I was invited to Cannes, I will work hard to follow and learn to improve even more."

Meanwhile, Jennie will attend the event as an actress of the movie "The Idol". The movie will be screened at the festival in the Out of Competition category, on May 22.
In addition, the group Aespa will be present at the event as global ambassadors of the jewelry brand Chopard, the official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. SM Entertainment confirmed this information last April.
Currently, two other Korean stars, Song Joong Ki and Bibi, are also invited, but have not confirmed whether they will attend the event or not.
Cannes Film Festival in turmoil before opening
As the opening day of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival approaches, in addition to the appearance of famous stars, issues surrounding the awards also attract special public attention.
Cannes Film Festival 2023 will officially take place from May 16-27, 2023
According to Variety, before the opening of the festival, many parades and protests for some prominent issues will break out right at the event area. It is expected that Croisette - the bustling avenue that plays the role of the lifeblood of the city of Cannes (France) - will be the gathering place of many people.
Specifically, a group of restaurant and hotel employees said they would take to the streets on May 19, while a group from the French General Confederation of Labor (CGT) would take action on May 21 to demand benefits related to the government's increase in the retirement age... Previously, on May 6, another group spoke out against the government's pension system.
Cannes authorities said they were imposing the ban to prevent possible civil unrest in the area where the festival is taking place. They have also met with representatives of several organisations to inform them of the ban and to indicate which areas are allowed to gather.
Variety revealed that many action groups also threatened to cut off the electricity inside the theater where the event took place, and would create a number of other incidents to achieve the goal of attracting media and public attention.
In addition, the Cannes Film Festival also faced a significant "incident" when 11,500 members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike in recent days.
Although not directly occurring in France, this strike also caused difficulties in the market for buying and selling scripts and film projects - a traditional activity at the Cannes Film Festival.
Women protest at Cannes Film Festival 2022
Earlier in March, protesters stormed the red carpet of the Series Mania TV Festival in the northern French city of Lille, forcing riot police to intervene.
Last year, a feminist group also staged a protest at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. They emitted smoke from handheld devices and displayed a long banner addressed to the global press.
