Thanksgiving - in the Gia Rai language called Tư gũ mã bruã, is held on a family scale and plays an important role in the spiritual life of ethnic groups in Kon Tum in general and the Gia Rai in Sa Thay district in particular.

According to the Gia Rai people's belief, people are born knowing nothing about their world, it is the Yangs (gods) who teach them how to grow rice, harvest corn, weave cloth, weave baskets, and bless them with good health and good crops. Therefore, to repay the Yangs' kindness, Gia Rai families organize Thanksgiving ceremonies to hope that the Yangs will continue to bless their families. This is a traditional cultural feature with profound humanistic values, leaving a good impression on each family member as well as those who attend and spreading throughout the Gia Rai community.
