On the morning of May 31, in Hanoi, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held an international press conference to inform about the 2024 Peace Festival with the theme "Joining hands to build a peaceful world".

The event was held for the first time in Quang Tri and Vietnam to honor the value of peace, pay tribute to heroic martyrs, commemorate war victims; contribute to enhancing the position and image of the country and people of Vietnam; build Quang Tri into a cultural space for peace, a destination for peace, a meeting place for peace-loving friends from all over the world.

At the press conference, Mr. Vu Van Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that the festival held in the land of Quang Tri that had suffered much pain, loss, and destruction due to war would convey a message about the strong vitality of the peace-loving Vietnamese people. From there, calling on humanity to join hands to build a sustainable peace in the world.

Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the festival has 5 important meanings. First, honoring international values, joining hands to build peace. Second, spreading the message that Vietnam loves peace, wishes to build and maintain peace. Third, promoting the vibrant cultural colors of Quang Tri land.

Fourthly, to absorb the world's cultural civilization, promote cultural cooperation... thereby promoting Quang Tri culture. Fifthly, to create an important cultural space, becoming an address to attract domestic and international tourists, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

The festival will open on the evening of July 6, at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai special national relic site with a series of meaningful activities, with the desire to create emotional highlights "bringing the whole world of peace to Quang Tri" - the land that has become a symbol of the desire for peace, healing and revival.

The event will include many notable activities such as: Cycling for Peace Day (June 29-30) with about 1,000 athletes from cycling clubs in provinces and cities nationwide; Quang Tri province cycling club and cycling clubs from some localities of Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.

The opening ceremony of the Festival for Peace with the theme: "Connecting bridges" took place on the evening of July 6 at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site, including a special art program and a fireworks display.

The "Taste of the Land of Sunny Flowers" cultural and culinary festival was held from July 12-14 at Cua Viet Beach Resort, Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province. There were culinary activities of 100 booths with typical dishes and drinks of the regions; culinary demonstrations; international kite exchanges on the beach and many other experiential activities such as instructing tourists on cooking, making kites, competitions, games, etc.

The "Peace Wish" program on the evening of July 26 in Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province, includes a memorial service (Quang Tri Citadel); a grand requiem ceremony (Liberation Square), a flower lantern ceremony (South bank of Thach Han River)...

Previously, the international music exchange program "Melody of Peace" was held on the evening of July 20 at the Quang Tri Cultural - Cinema Center, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province. In addition, the Trinh Cong Son music night "Song of Peace" was held on the evening of July 13, at Fidel Park, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.
