On April 6, Dr. Ta Huu Nghia - Deputy Head of Surgery Department of Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, said that the hospital's medical team just performed surgery to remove 15 bladder stones from a 65-year-old patient.

The patient is Mr. TH (residing in Ward 8, Bac Lieu City, Bac Lieu Province) who came to the clinic with difficulty urinating and intermittent urination for a long time.

Previously, Mr. H. had taken medication to treat prostate problems for many years, but his condition worsened, with increased difficulty urinating and pain in the lower abdomen. Mr. H. had a history of prostate hyperplasia and laparoscopic bladder stone surgery.

Through clinical and paraclinical examination, urologists diagnosed the patient with many large bladder stones accompanied by prostate hyperplasia, and surgery was indicated.

After 60 minutes, using open surgery to remove stones, doctors removed 15 large and small stones from the bladder, with the largest one the size of a chicken egg.

After surgery, Mr. H. was cared for and monitored at the hospital. His health is currently recovering well and he is expected to be discharged in the next few days.

Doctor Ta Huu Nghia said that bladder stones are caused by stones falling from the kidney to the bladder and gradually growing larger. However, in this case, the cause of the stones is due to an enlarged prostate gland that blocks and stagnates urine and obstructs the flow of urine. Therefore, after removing the stones, prostate hyperplasia must be thoroughly treated.

Mr. Nghia recommends that people should drink enough water and avoid sitting for long periods to reduce the risk of forming stones due to stagnation. In particular, men over 60 years old should regularly go for check-ups and screening for problems related to prostate hyperplasia to detect and treat early, thereby avoiding complications that can affect health.
