Construction of Passenger Terminal T2 of Cat Bi International Airport commenced

Passenger Terminal T2 of Cat Bi International Airport has started construction with a designed capacity of 5 million passengers/year and a plan to increase capacity to 10 million passengers/year.

Comrade Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city and city leaders; representatives of the Ministry of Finance , Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the project.

On the morning of August 19, at Cat Bi International Airport, the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC coordinated with Hai Phong City People's Committee to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of Passenger Terminal T2 project - Cat Bi International Airport.

This is one of 9 projects of Hai Phong city among 250 key projects nationwide inaugurated and started construction to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were comrades: Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; La Thanh Tan, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong city; representatives of the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies and units.

The T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport, with a total investment of VND 2,689.8 billion from the capital of Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC. The project is located in Hai An ward. The project is built on an area of about 23,200 m², with a designed capacity of 5 million passengers/year (equivalent to 1,500 passengers/peak hour) and a planned expansion plan to increase the capacity to 10 million passengers/year when needed.

Together with Terminal T1 (which is being studied for expansion to 3 million passengers/year), the project will meet the goal of increasing the total capacity of the entire Port to 13 million passengers/year by 2030.

The joint venture of contractors is determined to complete the T2 Passenger Terminal - Cat Bi International Airport after 18 months of construction.

Passenger Terminal T2 is designed with 2 floors above ground with 2 separate departure and arrival levels. The terminal is connected to the aircraft parking area by 4 passenger bridges, including 3 code C bridges and 1 double bridge that can handle 1 code E aircraft or 2 code C aircraft at the same time. The terminal has 2 baggage check-in points with 28 check-in counters (including 5 Self Bag Drop counters), 14 check-in kiosks, 2 baggage loading and unloading conveyor belts and 3 baggage return conveyor belts.

Auxiliary items of the Project: including M&E technical area, power station, Chiller station, wastewater treatment plant, parking lot, landscape, internal port traffic, lighting system, water supply and drainage... meeting international standards.

Project implementation time is 18 months, from the date the investor is fully handed over the construction site.
