Cua Ong Temple Festival is held annually on February 3-4 and August 3-4 (lunar calendar), symbolizing the spirit of fighting against foreign invaders to protect the country.

That symbol is expressed by honoring the historical figure, the national hero Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang, whom people still call Duc Ong, the temple's god.

The procession of the Lord and the deities is an important part of the festival.

This year's festival was held according to traditional rituals, including a procession of the Duc Ong palanquin and the gods walking around the royal palace, attracting a large number of people and tourists.

When the procession carrying the palanquin of the Lord and the deities passes on Tran Quoc Tang street, there will be a train and boat parading on the sea parallel to the procession.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Chau, in Mong Duong ward, Cam Pha city, said that because he is retired, for nearly ten years now, every time there is a festival at Cua Ong temple, Mr. Chau and his family come to offer incense, worship the saint, and pray for luck...

"The weather today is very nice, the traffic is convenient, so everyone in the family is happy. Especially, the opening ceremony with special performances left many deep impressions," Mr. Chau commented.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, living in Hai Phong City, said that he and his family have attended many temple festivals in several provinces and cities, but the first time he came to Cua Ong temple festival, he found it very unique and solemn...

"The Cua Ong Temple Festival is about returning to the roots, associated with historical figures who have "become gods", and has become the consciousness of Vietnamese people with the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree"... My family came here to offer incense, pray for peace, and admire the beautiful landscape. Therefore, everyone was happy and excited", Mr. Thanh shared.

Traffic police are deployed to regulate and divert traffic to prevent congestion on festival routes.

Mr. Pham Van Kinh, Vice Chairman of Cam Pha City People's Committee, Head of the festival organizing committee said: Cua Ong Temple is one of the historical and cultural relics of the Tran Dynasty, with a long history associated with the legend of Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang, who devoted his whole life to glorious feats of arms against foreign invaders in the border land of the Fatherland.

Cua Ong Temple was ranked as a special national historical relic by the Prime Minister in 2017. The organization of the festival is not only to commemorate the merits of Mr. Tran Quoc Tang but also an opportunity for Quang Ninh in general and Cam Pha City in particular to attract domestic and international tourists.

Although the number of people and vehicles coming to Cua Ong temple to offer incense and pay respects is very large, thanks to scientific organization of traffic flow and parking arrangement, all traffic routes in the area are smooth.
