More than 4.5 million visitors interacted with the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival

On June 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that an estimated 1.3 million visitors, including 121,000 international visitors and 1.18 million domestic visitors, visited Ho Chi Minh City from May 31 to June 9 during the festival. Along with that, the event also brought in significant tourism and service revenue, reaching VND4,250 billion.

During the festival,   Average room occupancy rate at accommodation establishments in District 1 increased by 20% compared to normal.

The number of customers of waterway businesses such as food services, transportation, etc. increased by an average of 20% compared to the daily number of customers.

At the same time, according to records from waterway service businesses, after the first River Festival in 2023, the number of waterway passengers increased by an average of 25-40%.

According to reports from travel agencies, the number of visitors during the festival increased by 40% - 50% compared to normal. Many tourist attractions also reported an increase in visitors compared to the same period. Of which, visitors to the Ho Chi Minh Museum increased by 103%, Cu Chi Tunnels increased by 423%, War Remnants Museum increased by 21%...

The festival has created a cultural tourism product, contributing to positioning the tourism brand of Ho Chi Minh City - a river city rich in identity - a city of festivals. The festival has contributed to promoting the image of the land, people, cultural identity, and typical culinary tourism activities of Ho Chi Minh City.

Contributing to the novelty and vibrant, attractive atmosphere of this year's festival are the first Ho Chi Minh City Open River Swimming and Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) Competition in 2024, aimed at the community, serving the growing needs of the public who love water sports.

The tournaments attracted nearly 600 athletes with 51 participating teams from Thu Duc city, districts, and provinces, along with the watching and cheering of a large audience of city residents and tourists.

In District 7, water sports activities attracted 600 registered participants and thousands of visitors to visit and experience.

The organizers also introduced tours for visitors to experience waterway tourism such as: short-range with 34 programs, various tourism products, medium-range with 18 programs, various tourism products and long-range, international transit to Cambodia with 13 programs, various tourism products.

In addition, there are more than 100 attractive promotional programs offered by destinations to serve locals and tourists during the festival.

"The successes recorded after the series of activities at this year's festival have affirmed the attractiveness of the festival, contributing to promoting the unique cultural and historical values ​​of the river city of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the same time, people and tourists can look forward to the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival with even more wonderful and interesting things," the City Department of Tourism affirmed.
