(NLDO) - ELMO is an international mathematics Olympiad held annually. When participating in the competition, Vietnamese students will compete with more than 60,000 international candidates.
On November 16, more than 4,000 primary school students in Ho Chi Minh City competed in the Eye Level Math Olympiad (ELMO) 2024 international math competition.
This is the first time the contest has been held in Vietnam, organized by the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development in collaboration with EdTech YAHO LAB Company.
The contest was held at Einstein School HCM (Binh Chanh district)
Candidates solve problems set by the jury on the following topics: arithmetic, word problems, and mental math. The test can be done in English or Vietnamese, and the test time is 50 minutes.
Standing outside the exam site waiting for her daughter, Ms. Minh Nhu (Binh Tan District) said that her daughter was very excited to participate in this competition, this was also the first time her daughter tried her hand at a large academic playground.
"Whether my child wins a prize or not is not important. My main goal is to help my child have the opportunity to communicate with many friends, exchange knowledge he has learned, and stimulate his curiosity in mathematics," Ms. Nhu shared.
Parents excitedly take their children to international math competitions
Contestant Bao Nghi, a student at Trung Trac Primary School (District 11) confidently entered her competition.
The contest attracted more than 4,000 primary school students in Ho Chi Minh City to participate.
Ms. Seonhee Yoon, CEO of YAHO LAB, said that ELMO is an international mathematics Olympiad held annually in countries such as Singapore, Korea and the US. When participating in the competition, Vietnamese students will compete with more than 60,000 international contestants.
In addition to creating a healthy and useful playground for mathematics and IQ for primary school students, the contest also creates opportunities for Vietnamese students to experience and demonstrate their mathematical abilities, foreign language skills and information technology applications with friends around the world.
The results are expected to be announced on January 16, 2025.
