Hong Kong (China) has arrived in Hai Phong to prepare for the friendly match with the Vietnamese team taking place on June 15.
Coach Andersen highly appreciates the Vietnamese team
In the press conference before the match, coach Jorn Andersen showed great respect for the red team.
In particular, the head coach of the Hong Kong team also pointed out the two most impressive names that Vietnam currently possesses.
“I have followed the Vietnam team since I worked with Asian team coaches.
In 2017, I led the North Korean team to play against Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City. The Vietnamese team then trained in South Korea, while I coached Incheon United in the K-League.
I think Quang Hai is the most fearsome player in Vietnam. Besides, Cong Phuong was my former student so I understand that he is a good player.
The Vietnam team has a quality squad with many names that have proven their class," said coach Jorn Andersen.
Talking about the match against the "Golden Star Warriors", coach Jorn Andersen said that this is an opportunity for Hong Kong to gain experience and aim for the 2023 Asian Cup.
“We are looking forward to this match because Vietnam is one of the strong teams in Asia.
Hong Kong is far behind Vietnam in the FIFA rankings, so this is a match to gain experience, thereby best preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup.
We are fully focused on the match. We don't need to think about how the Vietnamese team will play because we don't know how they will play under coach Troussier," the Hong Kong coach continued.
Besides, coach Andersen also revealed that in the match against the Vietnamese team, he will not have his best players.
“We have two players who are injured due to playing in domestic tournaments at high frequency, so they are not in good physical condition.
They are unlikely to start. However, I will check their health in this training session to have an accurate assessment.
I built a fierce playing style, eager to win every match to aim for the Asian Cup," said coach Anderson.
According to the schedule, the match between Vietnam and Hong Kong will take place at 7:30 p.m. on June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong).
