Graham Potter, appointed West Ham manager on 9 January 2025 on a two-and-a-half-year contract, is under pressure after a shaky start. |
According to statistics from Opta , with "The Hammers" suffering a heavy defeat against Chelsea at London Stadium, Potter became the coach with the lowest score in the first 10 home matches leading West Ham.
Graham Potter has collected just nine points from 10 home games in charge of West Ham – breaking the current record held by former managers Alan Curbishley and Avram Grant, who both had 10 points. Both Curbishley and Grant were once regarded as two of the worst managers in West Ham’s history, but Potter has now broken the record.
The West Ham captain is facing great pressure, because before that, in the opening round of the Premier League 2025/26, "The Hammers" also lost 0-3 to Sunderland. The Times called West Ham the worst team in the Premier League at present.
Potter could become the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League in 2025/26 if things don't improve quickly at West Ham. In January, West Ham appointed Graham Potter as head coach to replace Julen Lopetegui. During his time in charge of West Ham in the second half of the 2024/25 season, the coach also failed to impress with a fairly low win rate.
However, the Hammers' board still gave him more time to correct the mistakes made under Lopetegui and former sporting director Tim Steidten. After a summer of preparation, Coach Potter is under great pressure to achieve positive results in the early stages of the 2025/26 season.
However, West Ham's poor performance against newcomer Sunderland and then their disastrous home defeat against Chelsea left the club's management unhappy.
