Hundreds of people lined up to get and renew their driver's licenses on the first day of the transfer of duties from the Department of Transport to the Nghe An Provincial Police.
On March 3, according to the reporter's records, from early morning, hundreds of people in Nghe An province were present at the one-stop department of Nghe An Provincial Police (No. 108, Hoang Phan Thai Street, Nghi Phu Ward, Vinh City) to submit applications for issuance and exchange of driver's licenses (GPLX).
To support people in renewing their documents, the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province Police has sent officers to guide and receive information from people. In addition, at the area where documents are received, many officers from the Department of Transport are also present to guide the Traffic Police force through the procedural steps on the first day of handing over the task from the Department of Transport to the Provincial Police.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My Linh (born in 1990, residing in Le Loi ward, Vinh city) said: "My driver's license was lost, so I came to submit my application and complete the procedures to get it replaced. However, I waited from 7am to 11am and still had not had my turn because there were too many people coming. Because I was busy taking care of my child, I had to take the application home so that I would have time to come back the next day to get it reissued."
Holding his Class C driver's license in his hand, with only 1 day left (March 3, 2025), Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1977, residing in Vinh City) appeared extremely worried. "I have been waiting for more than a month and still have not been able to renew my driver's license. Today is the last day of the expiration date. If I have not completed the procedures, I will have to study and retake the exam. Looking at hundreds of people waiting for their turn, I am very worried, will my application be processed within the day?", said Mr. Thanh.
Speaking to VietNamNet reporter, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ham Thang, Deputy Head of Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province Police, said that it is expected that today, about 400 people will come to submit applications for issuance and renewal of driving licenses.
According to Mr. Thang, recently in the transition period, people had to wait for a while, so in the first days, the police received citizens, received documents for issuing and exchanging driving licenses very crowded. Receiving the handover work from the Department of Transport, Nghe An Provincial Police proactively deployed the task to make the handover smooth.
"It is expected that there will be about 400 applications for driver's licenses to be issued or renewed during the day. We will try to complete and process them within the day. The goal is to not have any interruptions, to serve the people best. Especially for those who have their driver's licenses renewed before their expiration date. In case the applications are not processed within the day, priority will be given to the backlog applications tomorrow," said Lieutenant Colonel Thang.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ham Thang, in the first days of taking on the task, the unit encountered certain difficulties. "The biggest difficulty is that the new officers are getting used to the job, and in the first days of approaching the documents, they are still confused. However, the police officers will try to catch up and resolve the procedures as quickly as possible for the people," Mr. Thang added.
