OAG Aviation – a global flight data provider (headquartered in the UK) has just announced a list of the 10 busiest domestic routes in Southeast Asia in August 2024.

Of which, three domestic routes of Vietnam are in the Top 10, which are the routes between Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang - Hanoi.

The Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route leads with 949,246 seats offered, surpassing many domestic routes in other countries such as Jakarta - Makassar (Indonesia) with a total of 569,526 seats offered, Jakarta - Bali route with 473,276 seats offered, Cebu - Manila (Philippines) route with a total of 450,053 seats offered in August (an increase of 9% compared to July 2024).

The Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City route ranked 5th with a total of 427,779 seats offered in August 2024.

The Da Nang - Hanoi route ranked 7th in Southeast Asia's busiest route in August 2024. According to OAG Aviation's analysis, capacity on this route decreased by 31% compared to the previous month.

Other domestic routes in the top 10 include Indonesian routes such as Surabaya - Makassar, Jakarta - Medan, Jakarta - Surabaya and Davao - Manila (Philippines).

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, during the National Day holiday on September 2 this year (from August 30 to September 3), tourist routes and North-South routes are still the routes with the largest increase in the number of seats provided, with an average of 33,000 seats/day.

In particular, the North-South route (routes connecting the three major cities of Hanoi - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnamese airlines have increased their operations with a high number of flights, with an average of 241 flights/day.
