The AQI index in Hanoi reached 182 and was ranked 3rd in the 10 most polluted cities in the world by Air Visual.
On December 3, information from the air quality monitoring application Air Visual showed that the air quality index (AQI) of Hanoi was very poor, with high levels of pollution as the air everywhere was covered with dense fog and fine dust.
At 8:00 a.m. the same day, the AQI index in Hanoi reached 182 and was ranked 3rd by Air Visual in the 10 most polluted cities in the world, after the two cities of Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan.
The reason why the North and Hanoi have been polluted for many days is because the weather changes in the winter, causing pollutants (fine dust and vehicle exhaust) not to disperse high up but to concentrate close to the ground. Along with that, it is now the end of the year, so traffic, industrial, construction and civil activities (burning garbage, burning straw) have increased.
