While many people are taking a 5-day holiday on April 30 and May 1, engineers and workers are still working hard at the construction site, despite the scorching heat of the Central region, to ensure the progress of the North-South expressway project, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon (Binh Dinh) section.
Currently, the Central region is in the dry season, which is the ideal time to speed up progress, making up for the rainy season at the end of the year. To ensure both progress and health, the workers work in 3 shifts. They work earlier in the morning and rest later in the evening.
Taking advantage of the less hot morning, nearly 1,100 engineers and workers on the XL01 package, eastern expressway, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, went to the construction site to work.
An excavator driver said that the heat made the workers work quite hard, but because it was a common task, everyone tried to complete it. Even though it was a holiday, everyone worked together to ensure the progress of the project.
Package XL01 is about 30 km long, passing through 3 districts: Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh and Mo Duc (Quang Ngai), with a total construction value of 3,600 billion VND. In this package, the road item accounts for about 28 km, the remaining 2 km is for bridges and culverts.
Mr. Tran Van Chi, Commander of the XL01 package of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, said that to ensure the progress of the project, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the unit still maintained nearly 1,100 engineers and workers along with 450 vehicles and equipment working continuously. "We still maintain the progress, only on International Labor Day, May 1, the workers will rest in place, then immediately resume work," said Mr. Chi.
The North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, is 88 km long, passing through Quang Ngai (60.3 km) and Binh Dinh (27.7 km) provinces. This is the project with the largest total investment and scale among the 12 component projects. In April 2024, the entire project deployed 43 construction teams, mobilizing nearly 3,200 personnel, more than 1,100 machines and equipment to the construction site.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy General Director of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company, the project is currently accelerating construction to take advantage of the dry season months. Therefore, the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year lasts 5 consecutive days, but with the spirit of "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", the project continues to work throughout the holiday with 43 construction sites across the entire project with nearly 3,200 personnel and more than 1,100 pieces of equipment.
"In order for workers and technicians to enjoy the holiday atmosphere at the construction site, the project management board will organize a rotating holiday on site for 2 days, April 30 and May 1. The construction site will focus on constructing the critical progress lines, which are the 3 traffic tunnels No. 1, 2, and 3. Workers working during the holiday will receive 300% of their salary according to regulations and construction site policies according to the Group's regulations," said Mr. Huy.
