Suspended from execution of fraud sentence, continued fraud

On February 29, the People's Court of Quang Binh province opened a first-instance criminal trial to try defendant Truong Thi Lan Anh (35 years old, residing in Bac Nghia Ward, Dong Hoi City) for fraud and property appropriation.

Previously, Truong Thi Lan Anh was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the High People's Court in Da Nang City for fraud and appropriation of property. However, because the defendant has a small child, the sentence was temporarily suspended and she was released on bail, only banned from leaving her place of residence.

Taking advantage of the suspension of the sentence, from January 2022 to March 2023, Lan Anh continued to commit fraud by creating a "cover" of wealth and wide connections... to gain the trust of the victims, receive money to apply for jobs, and transfer jobs at state agencies.

Using the above trick, Lan Anh defrauded more than 3 billion VND from 9 people in Quang Binh and Ha Tinh .

At the trial, defendant Lan Anh confessed to all acts of fraud and property appropriation. The panel sentenced defendant Truong Thi Lan Anh to 16 years in prison, combined with the previous sentence, for a total of 32 years in prison.
