In the first 3 months of 2025, in the province, border customs units processed 163,391 declarations, with the total import-export turnover of all types of goods reaching nearly 18 billion USD, an increase of about 30% over the same period in 2024.
Import and export turnover increased sharply
Ms. Ha Thi Kim Dung, Captain of Huu Nghi International Border Gate Customs, said: In the first 3 months of 2025, in the context of many factors affecting the import and export of goods through the area, Huu Nghi International Border Gate Customs has closely followed the actual situation, regularly met and discussed with import and export enterprises, thereby promptly removing difficulties and obstacles in handling customs procedures. In particular, Huu Nghi International Border Gate Customs organized a meeting with enterprises in January 2025, and at the same time established a working group to go to localities with a large number of import and export enterprises, especially enterprises operating in the import and export of goods such as trucks, computers, electronic components, auto parts, iron and steel, etc. to discuss and mobilize enterprises operating in the import and export of goods through the border gate, as well as carry out procedures at Huu Nghi International Border Gate Customs.
With that approach, in the first 3 months of 2025, more than 1,200 enterprises imported and exported goods through Huu Nghi International Border Gate, of which 868 enterprises declared goods at the unit with an import and export turnover of nearly 1 billion USD, an increase of 16% over the same period last year.
At other border gates in the province, the number of enterprises engaged in import and export of goods also increased compared to the same period in 2024. According to customs statistics, in the first 3 months of 2025, there were 2,670 enterprises conducting import and export activities through border gates in the province, of which, enterprises carrying out procedures at customs at border gates in the area were 1,534 enterprises, an increase of 4.7% over the same period last year; the declared import and export turnover reached more than 1.3 billion USD, an increase of about 23% over the same period last year.
Currently, every day at border gates in the province, customs forces clear goods for about 1,600 vehicles, an increase of about 150 vehicles compared to February 2025.
To achieve this result, from the beginning of 2025, the Customs Branch of Region VI directed the border gate customs to proactively coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize talks with Chinese authorities to agree on and coordinate the implementation of solutions to improve customs clearance capacity to facilitate import and export activities of goods.
Together with the customs agency, since the beginning of 2025, the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, the Department of Industry and Trade and other functional forces of the province have coordinated to organize 4 meetings with relevant agencies and units of China and sent 22 working letters to agencies at the same level to discuss and agree on customs clearance facilitation plans.
In the first 3 months of 2025, the provincial departments, branches, sectors and customs agencies in the province negotiated and agreed with Chinese authorities to increase 22 new types of goods that can be processed for import and export through the province's border gates, thereby increasing the total number of goods that can be imported and exported through the province to 261 items.
Continue to create a favorable environment for customs clearance of goods
The province's goal in 2025 is to strive for the total import-export turnover of goods through the province's border gates to reach 65 billion USD or more. To achieve this goal, in the remaining 9 months of 2025, the average monthly import-export turnover of all types of goods through the province must reach about 5.2 billion USD.

Along with that, the board continues to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue incentive mechanisms and policies to attract enterprises to invest in building infrastructure for import-export activities, logistics service areas, etc. to meet the increasing needs of enterprises in import-export activities". To achieve such goals, provincial departments, agencies and functional forces at border gates are continuing to closely coordinate to facilitate import and export activities through border gates in the province.
Mr. Lieu Anh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, in order to achieve and exceed the target of import and export turnover through the area, from now until the end of 2025, the Department will organize 4 to 5 trade promotion conferences with China; continue to discuss with the trade agency of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China to agree to advise the leaders of the two sides to expand the list of import and export goods through the border gates in the two sides' territories, in which priority is given to expanding the province's key export goods.
With the leading role in import and export activities at border gates, the Customs Branch of Region VI is implementing 8 key tasks, in which it continues to focus on closely coordinating with functional forces to implement solutions to facilitate import and export activities for businesses through the province's border gates.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, Head of the Customs Branch of Region VI said: To attract import-export enterprises operating through the area, the Customs Branch of Region VI will continue to organize dialogue conferences with enterprises, as well as continue to calculate a 30% reduction in related customs procedures to promptly remove obstacles in import-export activities; continue to promote customs modernization with the goal of all procedures being performed electronically, steps in the procedural process being performed automatically, thereby creating a favorable environment for import-export activities of goods through the province's border gates.
Along with that, currently, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Economic Zone is continuing to proactively coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to regularly grasp information and developments in the Chinese market to promptly inform industry associations and localities across the country about changes in import-export policies so that businesses can promptly adjust their production plans accordingly.
From April to September 2025, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, relevant provincial agencies and functional sectors will organize 6 thematic conferences with enterprises operating in the import-export sector in the province and other localities to exchange, listen, support to remove difficulties, obstacles and provide policy information. At the same time, provincial agencies will continue to maintain regular dialogue and peer-to-peer talks with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China to continue to unify solutions to facilitate customs clearance of import-export goods through the two sides' border gates.
Believing that, with the positive results achieved in the first 3 months of 2025, in the coming time, relevant agencies and units will continue to have effective solutions to create momentum for a breakthrough in import-export turnover through the area in 2025 as set out in the target.
