MU recruited Lammens to put pressure on Onana.

Manchester United continue to show their seriousness in reforming their squad this summer. According to British media, the "Red Devils" are very close to an agreement to recruit goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Antwerp for a fee of about 17 million pounds.

The Belgian goalkeeper is highly regarded for his reflexes, footwork and potential for development. Despite being quite young, Lammens has shown remarkable maturity at Antwerp, prompting MU to invest in increasing the depth of the goal.

Notably, the arrival of Lammens does not mean that Andre Onana will have to leave. On the contrary, the Cameroonian goalkeeper will continue to be associated with the Old Trafford club, despite causing controversy with many mistakes.

MU's plan is to create healthy competition for the number one position. Onana will still be the official choice, but Lammens promises to create pressure and bring more safety to the "Red Devils" goal.

Onana himself is also determined to stay with MU. He believes that adapting to the English football environment is just a matter of time and that he is capable enough to regain the form that helped Inter Milan reach the 2023 Champions League final.

With the Lammens deal, MU is not only aiming for the present but also for the long-term future, as they need a young goalkeeper who is capable of replacing Onana when necessary.
