On the morning of August 11, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held a drawing ceremony to schedule the National First Division and National Cup 2025 - 2026.
In round 1, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai , the runner-up of the First Division last season and determined to be promoted this season, will meet Quang Ninh Club on away ground.
Dong Nai Tuoi School (formerly Binh Phuoc Tuoi School) lost to Da Nang in the play-off match to V-League, refused to be promoted after Quang Nam left the tournament, determined to stay and conquer the First Division this season.
Meanwhile, Quang Ninh and Van Hien University are the two teams that won the 2025 Second Division Championship, and are the new recruits of the National First Division. Quang Ninh Club was re-established in 2024, promoted 2 levels in just 1 year, and is expected to inherit the tradition of mining football in national professional tournaments.
Also in the first round, the newly promoted Bac Ninh club will play away against Long An. The newly relegated team from V-League, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh, will meet Dong Thap. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Club will meet Ho Chi Minh City Youth.
The 2025-2026 National First Division has 13 participating clubs, starting from September 19, 2025 and ending on June 20, 2026. The teams will play a round-robin of 2 legs - home and away to calculate points, choosing the 2 leading teams to go straight to V-League and the 2 teams at the bottom of the rankings to be relegated to the second division.
The champion of this season's First Division will receive 2 billion VND in prize money, the runner-up will receive 1 billion VND, and the third-place team will receive 500 million VND.
According to the newly updated regulations of the tournament, each participating club is allowed to register a maximum of 1 foreign player (foreign player), 1 Vietnamese player of foreign origin (naturalized) and 2 foreign players of Vietnamese origin (Vietnamese origin who do not yet have Vietnamese nationality).
Regarding the results of the 2025 - 2026 National Cup draw , the most notable match is Hanoi FC against The Cong - Viettel in the first round, the winning team will meet Hanoi Police FC in the next round. Thus, the representatives with home stadiums in the capital will have to eliminate each other very early.
Similarly, also in round 1, Thanh Hoa meets Hoang Anh Gia Lai, while Truong Tuoi Dong Nai meets Becamex TP.HCM, promising to bring explosive matches and fierce competition.
The 2025 - 2026 National Cup will start on September 13, 2025 and end on June 28, 2026. The winning club will receive 2 billion VND in prize money.
