On March 14, My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) launched a 45-day and night competition to speed up the progress of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, Lo Te - Rach Soi route, Cao Lanh - Lo Te.
At the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction project, Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, said that after three years of implementation, the project has received close direction from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction.
My Thuan Project Management Board signed a competition with contractors to speed up the progress of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project.
My Thuan Project Management Board and all construction units and supervision consultants have strictly implemented the Prime Minister's instructions to organize construction in "3 shifts and 4 shifts" to achieve the plans. Some of which exceeded the required progress.
To date, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has achieved an overall progress of nearly 81%, 4% ahead of schedule. The Rach Mieu 2 main bridge alone is progressing 15% ahead of schedule.
Regarding the road, contractors are working on the entire 14/14km route, have unloaded nearly 8km, constructed 10km of crushed stone aggregate, and paved asphalt concrete in segments of more than 3km.
Along with that, contractors have completed four bridges (Xoai Hot, My Tho, Tam Son, Ba Lai), the remaining two bridges are under construction (Rach Mieu 2 main bridge, Song Ma bridge). Of which, Song Ma bridge will be completed in June 2025.
For Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, 100% of the P19 and P20 towers have been completed. The bridge deck has 14 main girder blocks, 11 blocks have been completed, and the 12th block is under construction. Contractors have installed the 96th/112 cable-stayed bundle.
"To achieve the goal of completing the entire project, My Thuan Project Management Board and other units set a goal of further accelerating the progress within 45 days and nights, aiming to close the main bridge of Rach Mieu 2 bridge on April 30. This is the premise for completing the project according to the direction of the Prime Minister," Mr. Thi emphasized.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge has installed the 96th/112th cable-stayed cable bundle.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project, starting point at Dong Tam intersection (intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province. End point at Km 16+660 National Highway 60, more than 700m from Ham Luong bridge pier in Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province.
Rach Mieu 2 main bridge is over 1,971m long; a 4-lane grade III delta road, the total project length is about 17km, started in March 2022. With a total investment of over 6,810 billion VND.

On the same morning, My Thuan Project Management Board launched the "45 days and nights" emulation movement to speed up the progress of the Cao Lanh - Lo Te route upgrade investment project and the Lo Te - Rach Soi route upgrade investment project.
These are key traffic routes in the list of 3,000km of expressways that need to be completed by 2025 according to the Government's direction.
When completed, it will contribute to improving traffic capacity, meeting transportation needs in the Mekong Delta region, promoting socio-economic development and ensuring national security and defense.
"Up to this point, the construction progress of the two projects has not yet met the set plan due to many objective and subjective reasons," said Mr. Thi.
For the Cao Lanh - Lo Te upgrade project, by April 30, contractors are striving to complete 7/29 bridge decks; complete girder placement of 12/29 bridges; complete all 43 culverts on the service road; complete asphalt concrete construction on the main route; complete road form excavation, leveling of branches N1, N2 at Lo Te intersection.
Determined to shorten construction time, complete the project before October 30, 2025, 2 months earlier than the contract.
With the project to upgrade the Lo Te - Rach Soi route, the units strive to complete the construction of cement piles at the culvert head; complete the construction of scraping and recycling the road surface; complete at least 85% of the locations extending the culvert transition slab.

Efforts to construct the Lo Te - Rach Soi upgrade project
The Cao Lanh - Lo Te upgrade project is nearly 29km long through Dong Thap province. The total investment of the project is 950 billion VND. The project started on April 10, 2024, and the progress to date has reached 44%.
The Lo Te - Rach Soi upgrade project is about 51km long, passing through Can Tho city and Kien Giang province. The total investment is about 750 billion VND. The project started on June 13, 2024, and the progress has reached 27% so far.
