DNO - During the working trip to the United States, from November 21 to 22 (local time), Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh and members of the working delegation had a working program with the world's leading semiconductor enterprises in Silicon Valley, California, USA.

* On the morning of November 22, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh and the delegation visited and worked with Marvell Group, the world's leading enterprise in semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, to discuss in detail the implementation of the content of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties at the Da Nang City Semiconductor Day event taking place in August 2024.

Emphasizing that Marvell is an important strategic partner of the city in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, the Chairman of the City People's Committee highly appreciated Marvell's efforts to fulfill its investment commitments with the opening of its first office in Da Nang last May.

Introducing preferential policies and specific investment support for the city's strategic partners, the Chairman of the City People's Committee suggested that Marvell continue to expand its investment and business activities in Da Nang; cooperate in developing high-quality human resources in microchip design and artificial intelligence as well as consider supporting the city in building a lab for training.

The city is committed to creating the best conditions for Marvell Da Nang office to operate more effectively and stably.

Updating the operations of the Da Nang Office, Executive Vice President of the Group TS Loi Nguyen said that after 6 months of operation, Marvell's staff size has expanded by 25% compared to the beginning and this number will continue to grow in the coming time.

Dr. Loi Nguyen commented that Da Nang has bright prospects in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence and believes that Marvell's investment activities in Da Nang will achieve positive results.

Marvell highly appreciates the competitive advantages Da Nang possesses, especially the young, skilled, well-trained workforce and will continue to implement specific programs, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in semiconductors and artificial intelligence - factors considered key to sustainable development and investment attraction in the above fields in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.

Marvell will participate in training key lecturers for universities as well as research the possibility of cooperation in building a lab to serve semiconductor and artificial intelligence training in Da Nang.

*On the same afternoon, during the working program with NVIDIA - the world's leading chip manufacturing corporation, exchanging information on the implementation of cooperation programs in the field of artificial intelligence training in the city between the two sides in the past time, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh suggested that NVIDIA continue to coordinate to effectively implement the AI ​​Ambassador Program (DLI Ambassador), and train the capacity of lecturers in the city.

At the same time, expressed the hope that NVIDIA would pay attention to supporting programs to promote startups, innovation, research and development.

Emphasizing that Da Nang is striving to realize the goal of becoming a national innovation center, the Chairman of the City People's Committee said that support from large technology corporations such as NVIDIA will play an important role in improving the quality and scale of this ecosystem in the city.

At the meeting, Ms. Shilpa Kolhatkar, Director of AI Nations of NVIDIA, said that the corporation is actively implementing programs to support training, improve skills, and develop human resources in the field of artificial intelligence in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.

Based on information on the city's preferential policies and specific support in the field of startups and innovation, NVIDIA will continue to research and coordinate with the city's departments, branches and sectors to consider ways of cooperation between the two sides.

*During the program, the Da Nang city delegation had a working session with ITSJ-G Company and Philogix Consultant Company, thereby discussing investment opportunities in the high-tech sector in the city.

Highly appreciating the investment and business environment in Da Nang, Chairman and CEO of ITSJ-G Chau Tran said that the company is currently studying a plan to implement a project to manufacture semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the supply chain at the Da Nang High-Tech Park.

Recognizing the development potential of Da Nang in the field of life sciences (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment manufacturing, etc.), Ms. Janette Phi, Director of Philogix Consultant Company, presented the proposal for the Life Science Park project in Da Nang, with the goal of building Da Nang into an innovation center, promoting research and development activities, and technology transfer in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, etc.

Acknowledging the investors' proposals, the leaders of Da Nang city committed to actively coordinate and support investors in researching and implementing successful projects in Da Nang.

At the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh informed that Da Nang is focusing resources on realizing the goal of becoming one of the country's high-tech centers, focusing on semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Currently, the city is making efforts to speed up the completion of infrastructure and other necessary conditions to welcome investment projects from businesses in this field.

Appreciating the technological achievements and performance of Supermicro in recent times, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Supermicro to consider and research investment in an artificial intelligence data center and cooperate in implementing a human resource training program in the field of management, operation, exploitation of machinery and equipment and artificial intelligence ecosystem in Da Nang.

Vice President of Supermicro Phidias Chou highly appreciated the development potential for technology enterprises in Da Nang. He affirmed that he will actively consider the proposal of the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee on building an Artificial Intelligence Data Center in Da Nang.

He said that in September 2024, within the framework of the working program of General Secretary and President To Lam in the United States, Supermicro Group and Sovico Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips and data center construction in Vietnam.

This will be the foundation for Supermicro to increase its presence in the Vietnamese market in the coming time. In addition, the Vice President of Supermicro also committed to cooperate in implementing related training programs as proposed by Da Nang city.

* On the same afternoon, visiting the headquarters of Qorvo - the world's leading semiconductor chip supplier for power and connectivity solutions, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh thanked Qorvo's leaders for taking the time to welcome and congratulated the impressive achievements of Qorvo Global Group as well as Qorvo Vietnam Company in the past time; at the same time, he affirmed that Qorvo is one of Da Nang's major partners in the field of semiconductor chips.

Based on the results of previous working sessions between Da Nang City and Qorvo Group, the Chairman of the City People's Committee updated Qorvo leaders on the progress of completing the Software Park No. 2 project as well as preferential policies and special support for the city's strategic partners in the semiconductor microchip field.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee pledged to create favorable conditions for foreign investors in general, and Qorvo in particular, to operate effectively in Da Nang, and expressed his hope that the group would soon establish an office in Da Nang; and support the city in training human resources in the field of semiconductor design.

Appreciating the determination of Da Nang city in building a favorable investment and business environment for semiconductor enterprises, Qorvo CEO Jeff Strang commented that Da Nang possesses many great prospects in the field of semiconductors.

In the coming time, Qorvo will organize a working group to Da Nang to research, survey, and discuss the opening of a design office; coordinate program development, and send lecturers and senior experts to participate in instructing microchip design training courses.
