The patient was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pain but his vital signs were completely stable. Mr. N. was ordered to perform paraclinical tests.

On August 13, Dr. Tran Nguyen An Huy, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Interventional Cardiology, Hoan My Saigon Hospital, said that based on the electrocardiogram results and after examination, the doctor discovered an anterior ST elevation myocardial infarction with signs of early-stage heart failure. The echocardiogram also showed reduced left ventricular function, with the anterior wall and apex of the heart having hypokinetic properties consistent with a blocked coronary artery branch.

Mr. N. said that he works in the information technology industry, often stays up late and has little exercise; at first he just thought he had a stomach ache. Regarding his medical history, his family has elderly people with cardiovascular disease, including two paternal uncles who had myocardial infarctions before the age of 50.

After consultation, Dr. Tran Nguyen An Huy decided to perform emergency coronary intervention. Coronary angiography showed that the anterior interventricular artery was completely blocked from the proximal segment. Therefore, the team placed a stent within 30 minutes with the support of the 2-plane DSA system, helping to restore blood flow through the main coronary branch.

After the procedure, the patient recovered well and was discharged after 2 days at the family's request.

To prevent the risk of recurrence, Dr. Huy recommends that Mr. N. adhere to the treatment process for high blood lipids, avoid stress, stay up late, exercise regularly, and have regular check-ups.

The rate of myocardial infarction in young people is increasing.

According to Dr. Huy, recent studies show that the rate of myocardial infarction in young people is increasing, accounting for about 10% of all cases. Sedentary lifestyle, prolonged stress and smoking habits are the leading risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, the direct cause of myocardial infarction.

Doctor Huy recommends that when experiencing chest pain, especially in young people, one should not be subjective or buy medicine to treat oneself without knowing the cause, but should see a doctor early to prevent dangerous complications.
