On Facebook, the buying and selling of YouTube Premium and Netflix accounts is extremely active, with dozens of groups continuously selling them every day at prices 40-50% cheaper, even several times cheaper, than on the platform.

Those groups currently have from tens to hundreds of thousands of members, such as "Netflix, Galaxy Play, Youtube, Vieon, FPT Accounts..." with 53,000 members, "Netflix - Share Account" 158,900 members, "Youtube Premium Owner - Duong Beo" 33,600 members...

Thanks to that, when users have a need, they just need to post an article about needing to buy a YouTube Premium or Netflix account, and 1 minute later they will receive dozens of comments and messages with quotes, along with a promise of warranty and quality.

However, according to some users, buying and selling that type of account online is potentially very risky.

Mr. Truong Hien, residing in Thu Duc City (HCMC), said that in early June 2024, he searched for a YouTube Premium package on social networks and was quoted a very cheap price by an account named TP, with a 6-month package costing only 110,000 VND and a 1-year package costing only 210,000 VND.

Meanwhile, YouTube is listing a price of up to 79,000 VND/month, which if calculated for 1 year would be nearly 1 million VND, nearly 5 times higher than the above price.

"They asked me to transfer money first, then give me a YouTube Premium account. I hesitated for a long time, then that person said they would send me the account to check first and then pay later. Seeing the risk of paying, I didn't buy it anymore," said Mr. Hien.

To save money but still be able to watch quality movies, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - an office worker in Ho Chi Minh City - said that he recently went to a group called "Buy and sell cheap Netflix and K+ accounts" to buy a Netflix account, but the result was that when he received the account, he could not use it.

"DL account texted me and quoted me the fee for sharing a premium Netflix account for 400,000 VND/year, guaranteed genuine goods, good experience, warranty if there was any error, but after receiving the goods, almost every movie I watched had an error, or else it was laggy. I texted to request a warranty but they were silent. When I went to this person's personal page, I discovered a fake account" - Mr. Nam recounted.

According to a technology expert, cheap accounts to use advanced features of Netflix or YouTube will often be shared accounts for many users. This will definitely violate the policies of YouTube and Netflix, leading to the account being unexpectedly locked.

In addition, some people use stolen or illegally created accounts to resell. This can put users at legal risk.

"Users should buy directly from the platform or authorized service providers. Be aware that overly attractive offers are often a sign of fraud. At the same time, do not provide personal information to strangers on social networks," the expert recommended.
